An informative walk around Uluru

The tour included an early start with a breakfast that we ate along the way. The walk around Uluru was about 12 KM and our guide, Lucy, was very knowledgeable and provided information all along the way that included the cultural importance, plants and birds, etc.

The real deal walk around Uluru

This was an awesome morning hike around the entire base of Uluru with an incredibly knowledgeable guide, Lucy. We had real conversations about the geology, history, and Aboriginal culture. This is the opposite of a drive-by, one stop tour. If you want the real stories, look no further. 5 stars highly recommend.

Highly recommend this experience

We had a fabulous experience. Our guide Jacqui was so knowledgeable, professional and shared her indigenous stories and insights with us . We really enjoyed being part of a small group. The base walk is quite easy going with lots of breaks along the way . Would highly recommend this experience!

Sacred Sunrise

Be prepared to have an experience of a life time! Doing the 5hr sunrise base walk around ULURU, which did not feel like 5 hours, was just an amazing surreal experience. The size of Uluru is so deceptive from afar. It is mammoth sized! To be up close & personal for me was quite a spiritual moment. Our tour guide LUCIA was perfectly amazing. She took us on a beautiful leisurely walk at no time rushing us, (I was always running up the rear). Lucia was very well informed relaying the stories at the points where we stopped with clarity & was very respectful to the FIRST NATION PEOPLES of the LAND regarding where photographs could not be taken or where we could not fully access due to the sacredness of a site. You could feel her love & connection to Uluru. The quiet spots, water, drawings & natural formations of ULURU are astounding as is the gorgeous red sandy earth especially against the green which we were lucky to have in abundance this year. Do be prepared for the flies. Do not go without a head net. They also sell on site if you do not purchase one in advance. Also fluid & your own snacks if you wish although we are given a little packed lunch to walk with when we take off. ENJOY!

Rise early, you’ll love it

An outstanding experience, made even better by our guide. Michelle is very knowledgeable and friendly, and we learned lots while enjoying a peaceful walk around Uluru. Well worth rising early! The walk is a bit far for anyone with mobility issues, but the broad, smooth path is manageable for most.

Interesting but much overpriced

Its very interesting and pleasant experience for Uluru's first time visitor. However its much overpriced. For pick up and drop off in front of hotel (15 min drive one way) + very modest 10$ breakfast + guide cost 155€/person. For a simple 12km walk arounf the rock. Even entrance fee is not included and need to be paid in addition.

Great Walk around Base of Uluru with Excellent Guide

We got picked up from our hotel just after 6a.m. and made our way to the National Park. It is very important that you have purchased a National Park pass ($38) beforehand. We were given satchels before commencing our walk which had our food in (breakfast). (To be honest, I thought the make up of the breakfast was inadequate. A muesli bar, tub of fruit, fruit drink, a couple of Anzac biscuits and a muesli bag with milk isn't what you'd call breakfast. Perhaps a fresh sandwich and/or muffin wouldn't have gone amiss.) However, we began our walk steadily with our guide, Flo from Chile, leading the way at a steady pace. The first part of the walk didn't involve many stops so there was plenty of time to take photos, selfies and watch the colour of the rock change as the sun came up. Being in a small group has its advantages as you can get to know your fellow hikers and our tour guide could keep track easily. Once the toilet stop was complete, about a third of the way around, Flo began to tell us some of the stories and fables about certain areas of the rock. She conveyed these with great knowledge and some were surprising to say the least. Caves, water holes and drawings were all sighted during the walk. It is important to know that parts of Uluru are extremely sacred to the Aboriginal people so no photography is allowed in these areas. The rock continued to amaze as we continued are walk. The whole walk took about 4-and-a-half-hours and covered approximately 11km. Flo was an excellent guide and very friendly as she then drove us to the Cultural Centre for a delicious coffee, souvenirs and galleries. All up a fabulous morning was had and I would highly recommend this tour as a must do whilst you are at Uluru.
