What a fantastic experience, the host was patient and funny. A fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommend
Wow!! This is exactly the experience we were seeking. Pasta making class in a local home in Bologna. This is not a fancy class in a commercial kitchen - rather, it is a down to earth home kitchen with an expert pasta maker who does this for her family every day. She shared stories of how she learned to make pasta as a child, while showing our 2 & 6 year old children how to make their first pastas (tortellini, bowtie, and tagliatelle). Our son has a severe allergy to pistachio and cashew, and our host made sure every ingredient was confirmed safe. Made us feel very comfortable!! The pasta was delicious, and we shared the experience with some cool fellow travelers. It was fun to be in her home while her family went about their day. Her husband was our waiter, serving us local wine, along with still and sparkling water, while replacing our dishes and utensils with each meal. It was a better experience than some of the restaurants we visited. We highly recommend!!
Can we give more than 5 stars? What an amazing experience for the family! Irene was the best. She valued families and teaching younger teens the art of cooking. The food was delicious and the other 3 families that were there were great! Highly recommend.
What a great experience. We had a wonderful evening at Irene's and Marco's place, learned a lot about making pasta, had a very tasty dinner, and just had a lot of fun. Absolutely recommended!
We chose this class with Irene after reading that she welcomes children and teens, and that she has a daughter around. The apartment is simple and humble, as shown in the pictures, and the class takes place in the living room. We were a group of six family members/friends, plus two other participants. We were asked to change the time of our class, and Marco was very supportive throughout the process -- everything worked out smoothly. We drove there ourselves, and Marco welcomed us downstairs. We did not expect to prepare sauces or fillings; our expectation was mainly to prepare the dough: breaking the eggs and mixing everything by hand - and we certainly experienced that! Irene has excellent teaching skills: she is extremely patient, carefully observes everyone’s work, and guides you through the process while encouraging you to learn how to “read” the pasta dough. We made three different types of pasta, and a vegetarian filling was also provided. She allowed us to take pictures, and Marco was always happy to help. Water was available throughout the class and for dinner we were offer wine and tea. After we finished preparing the pasta and Irene answered all our questions, she and Marco cleaned everything and set the table for dinner. The service is humble but very thoughtful. Irene’s apartment is a real home, with people living there, that meant from time to time, someone would pass by or check on the class. We actually enjoyed this atmosphere, especially seeing Irene’s care and attention toward her daughter - a lovely teen. On the downside: for tall people (like myself), the tables are quite low. The lighting is also simple. If you are looking for a fancy or polished experience, this may not be your first choice. That said, the price reflects the experience well: a regular family opening their home, with a wonderful woman who cares deeply about food, shares her knowledge with enthusiasm, and teaches with authenticity and warmth.
We were a party of 8 couples. We booked and fully paid through GET YOUR GUIDE, for the class 6 months in advance. The night before the class, the leder of the group received a call telling that the class was cancelled, because they had a group with some people in wheelchairs and that they needed more space for them. Just like that. The woman didn't even offered an optional date. We had paid for a bus to take us to the venue, because it was far from the city center. We were charged with 50% of the cost for the late cancellation. As of today, November 20th, I have not yet received the reimbursement and there is no one I can talk to not at Get your Guide nor at COOKINBO. DON'T RUN THE RISK.
Sorry but this does not mean to be related to us directly. For any request of reimbursement only viator or get your guide should reply to you and not our company directly. Thank you
Its very easy to follow and learn how to make 3 types of pasta. Best of all its great fun and you eat what you make.
Thank you for your review. Hope from today you Will get the best of the hand made pasta.
This was a warm and welcoming cooking class! Hosts spoke English very well, we had great instruction on how to make pasta. I will need to practice for sure! Then eating our creations at the end with great wine, and each of the three pastas cooked differently was amazing! And we made new friends! Def recommend!
Very enjoyable! Very good teacher, made me feel special like I was her first student ever. So patient and encouraging while also discussing Italian family philosophy’s of cooking. I’m no great cook but with Irene’s guidance I made 3 different types of pasta with ease. Was very pleased with myself and even more so when I tasted it all. Thank you Irene you were wonderful and I had a great time. Really good value for money.
Thank you very much, amazing experience
