Cette excursion d'une journée au départ de York offre l'opportunité d'explorer le parc national des Yorkshire Dales avec une introduction au pays d'Herriot, y compris la ville pittoresque de Grassington (célèbre pour son rôle de ville fictive de « Darrowby » dans le nouveau « All Creatures Great and Small ' série télévisée), Masham (bourg traditionnel de Lower Wensleydale), Bolton Abbey (où vous verrez le cadre magnifique des ruines du monastère augustinien du XIIe siècle) et les cascades calcaires traditionnelles des vallées du Yorkshire à Linton. Itinéraire
Nous nous dirigeons vers Lower Wenslydale, avec votre guide touristique vous racontant l'histoire et les caractéristiques de la région. Le premier arrêt est au bourg traditionnel de Masham dans le Lower Wensleydale, qui a obtenu sa charte de marché il y a plus de 700 ans en 1251. Ici, vous pouvez apprendre une partie de l'histoire de la ville grâce à votre guide et voir les vestiges d'un arbre croisé anglo-saxon. , datant d'environ 1300 ans, à l'église Sainte-Marie-la-Vierge, explorez les boutiques pittoresques ou dégustez simplement une bière du Yorkshire et un gâteau dans l'un des cafés de la place - à vous de choisir !
En traversant Masham Moor où les moutons errent librement parmi la bruyère et le vaste paysage ouvert sur notre chemin vers les sommets de Nidderdale. Les vues et les paysages fantastiques sur le réservoir de Gouthwaite et les kilomètres de murs en pierres sèches le rendent parfait pour de superbes arrêts photo. Nous arrivons à la ville pittoresque de Grassington, célèbre pour son rôle de ville fictive de « Darrowby » dans la nouvelle série télévisée « All Creatures Great and Small », diffusée pour la première fois en 2020. Ici, vous aurez 1,5 heure de temps libre pour explorer le boutiques, cafés et lieux de tournage ou même rendez-vous au pub Devonshire Arms (The Drovers in All Creatures Great and Small) pour prendre un verre avec les habitants !
Nous quittons Grassington et nous dirigeons vers les magnifiques chutes de Linton. Il n'est qu'à une courte distance en voiture, donc si vous préférez, vous avez la possibilité de faire une courte promenade depuis le parking du centre d'accueil sur l'ancien chemin de pierre jusqu'aux chutes de Linton et de rencontrer votre guide sur le pont au-dessus de la rivière Wharfe .
L'après-midi, nous nous arrêterons à l'abbaye de Bolton, où l'entrée est gratuite et vous pourrez explorer l'église du prieuré et les ruines du prieuré augustin du XIIe siècle dans son cadre magnifique au bord d'une rivière, ou peut-être relever le défi des tremplins si vous vous sentez plus aventureux. !
Nous quittons Bolton Abbey pour continuer notre voyage à travers les Dales en direction de York, en passant par Harrogate et en apprendre un peu plus sur l'histoire de cette célèbre ville thermale.

The scenery of the Dales was spectacular! The trip to Grassington was lovely as I’m an avid fan of All Creatures Great and Small. Our driver Chris was knowledgable, friendly and quite the historian. He also was kind and accommodating, I highly recommend this tour! It would be a great idea to add Helen’s farm into the tour.
We had a wonderful excursion in the Yorkshire Dales with our driver and guide, Chris! The scenery was bucolic and the entire experience was delightful. I highly recommend this tour! We did the Yorkshire Dales trip in June. The landscape was stunning, our driver, Chris, was friendly and knowledgeable, the bus was comfortable, and every stop was well planned. We did a similar Cotswold tour a few years ago, and we liked this even better.

Best investment we made for our Yorkshire area visit! Our guide was fun, knowledgeable, and easy to understand, providing Interesting narration throughout the drive and rich insights on the areas we visited. We especially hoped to visit a wool dealer and he located one for us. Plenty of great photo ops and time to explore villages, shop, and grab a meal or tea. Chris was our driver and tour guide. He was extremely friendly and very informative about all the places that we drove through and all the places that we stopped. I use a walker and it was always out and waiting for me when I got off the bus. He is great at his job and the way that he interacts with people.
