Excursion d’une journée en vélo à Otrante et ses environs
Description
Promenade à cheval à travers des routes secondaires et une agréable balade en moto de citrouilles, nous vous ferons découvrir l'une des plus fascinantes et typiques zones de Salento : les environs d’Otrante. En traversant la vallée d'Idro, nous croiserons sa crypte byzantine de Saint Ange, et nous atteindrons la fondation "Le Constantine", un centre dédié à l'agriculture biologique et au tissage traditionnel avec de vieux métiers à tisser. Nous pédalerons vers le jardin mégalithique de Giurdignano, pour admirer ses dolmen et menhir préhistoriques, puis nous verrons un petit lac dans une carrière de bauxite désaffectée. Arrêtez-vous dans une boulangerie avec un four en pierre pour un délicieux déjeuner avec des produits typiques, mais aussi à Porto Badisco pour un café sucré avec de la glace et du lait d'amande et pour une baignade fraîche.

Itinéraire
Nous remonterons la vallée de l'Idro le long d'une agréable parcelle de terre et nous verrons la crypte Saint-Ange, creusée dans la roche tendre du Salento à l'époque byzantine.
Nous passerons à Casamassella et nous arrêterons à la Fondation Costantine, un centre dédié à l'agriculture biologique et au tissage traditionnel avec de vieux métiers.
Nous atteindrons ensuite Giurdignano, principal centre mégalithique du Salento en raison des nombreux dolmens et menhirs, première preuve de présence humaine dans la région.
Arrêtez-vous dans une boulangerie avec un four en pierre pour un délicieux déjeuner organisé par l'organisation. Après le déjeuner, nous nous dirigerons vers Porto Badisco pour une longue pause et si le temps le permet, une baignade. Il est également possible de louer des canoës.
Nous continuerons ensuite le long de la magnifique route côtière vers Otranto. Nous nous arrêterons au phare de Punta Palascìa, le point le plus à l'est de l'Italie, et à un lac particulier dans une carrière de bauxite désaffectée. Retour à Otrante en fin d'après-midi.

Carlo took us from start to finish in his story about Otranto area. Seen many unknown places where you can normally never get by car. This 37km bike ride takes you mainly on roads through the hinterland and sometimes even gravel paths. Eaten tasty figs along the way, freshly picked. In short, fun day in good company.
Amazing day with Carlo. He was super knowledgeable about the whoke area, history, flowers, wildlife, plants, just a fantastic day out. Easy pace and relaxed. My wife and I love our bike tours and this was one of the best.
Last Saturday we took part in a splendid bicycle ride with Salento Bici Tour. Our guide, Ilenia, very kind and professional, guided us to discover the area of Otranto and its surroundings, showing us some "gems" that we would never have discovered on our own. opportunity to see. Beautiful experience among menhirs and dolmens with lots of history and nature. The stop at Porto Badisco and the visits to Punta Palascia (the easternmost point of Italy) and the bauxite quarries were the icing on a relaxing and fun experience. Carlo, like the entire Salento Bici Tour team, are highly trained people who pay attention to the experience of the participants, with good quality bikes, including electric ones. Highly recommended
A very nice day with a guide who shares his passion of his land. We drove in very beautiful small country roads, discovered some monoliths and caves as well as their stories. Beautiful landscapes at the end of the day, along the coast. Very good & new e-bikes . Enchanted

With my 2 older sons a very informative bike ride done with Carlo. The bike is a perfect way to explore the area. Carlo gave everything a dimension by telling the back stories about this historically interesting area. The trip is certainly not hard and doable for almost everyone.
