We were so happy that we decided to book a bike tour. Kyoto isn’t like other big cities in Japan that rely on trains. Bikes are by far the easiest and fastest way to get around the city. Our guide, Jospeh designed a tour along the water, so most of the tour we biked along canals and rivers avoiding many busy streets. We feel like we really got the historical context of this beautiful city and local vibes. I can’t imagine taking in sites any other way. Highly recommend. Joseph was passionate and extremely knowledgeable. His curiosity of the world was infectious.
Thank you for your kind words and 5-star rating. We're so happy to hear that you had a great experience with us.
Miyake was an amazing guide. This is the BEST way to experience Kyoto-on the backroads and along the River and canals away from the throngs of tourists in the busy pedestrian areas and train/subway stations. Miyake took us to several Beautiful smaller and less crowded temples and shrines where we could really appreciate the quiet and nature away from massive crowds. By Far this was our best experience in all of our 12 day in Japan!
Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with us.
Miyake was a fantastic guide for our bike tour of Kyoto. The ONLY way to really experience Kyoto, and its temples, in my opinion. Away from all the crowds of public transportation and the over-touristed Temples and Shrines, Miyake took us on little back streets, cruising along the river path and canals away from the hectic crowds and traffic. He picked less crowded temples and sites where we could really appreciate the beauty and nature on the edges of Kyoto. We wasted 2 days on trains, buses and walking but getting nowhere due to so many tourists. Our day on bikes with Miyake was the best day we have spent in our whole trip to Japan. You can really cover so much more ground while enjoying the passing architecture, gardens, backstreets and paths in nature. Awesome day!
Thank you for this amazing review! We’re thrilled Miyake’s bike tour showed you Kyoto’s quiet backstreets, river paths, and less-crowded temples. We love that it became the best day of your trip after dealing with crowds on trains. We’ll pass on your praise—he’ll be so happy to hear it!
We had a bike tour with Alex and he was excellent!! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Kyoto and made the tour super fun. He also made sure to point out all the good photo opportunities and took a lot of pictures for us which was an added bonus!

It was a very good experience. We saw lots of things and our guide was both very competent and very friendly. A very good way to visit Kyoto.
We're so glad you enjoyed your experience and gave us a 5-star review. Thank you for your support!
This ended up being a tour for just the 2 of us on bikes. Alex really added to the experience. To be honest we needed his guiding around the streets and pavements but he was amazingly knowledgeable and it was interesting to see Japan through the eyes of an outsider who has chosen to settle here and embraced all things Japanese
Your 5-star rating means the world to us! We're glad to know that you were completely satisfied with your experience.
The explanation was very interesting with very much Insiders information. The tour guide was amazing and very patient taking pictures

This was such a great experience. Firstly I had a knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. We did the tour leisurely but the guide took me along authentic streets and short cuts that would not have been accessible by bus or walking. I had a taste of day to day living in addition to being able to see the iconic historical sites. Do pack a pair or trainers and leggings and take the opportunity to exercise while embracing the day to day and spectacular sites

Our tour guide, Nobumasa, was amazing! He showed us many great spots in Kyoto and explained all of the history to us. He was extremely knowledgeable!

We had an excellent half day with Miya guiding us on bikes around key points of Kyoto interest. The tour was a very good balance of thoughtful time riding (for example, along the river and later the philosopher’s path), and temple visits with digestible explanations of culture, religion and history. Miya was an excellent guide - explaining points of interest, and even buying us some traditional Japanese sweets to refuel.
