We booked four incredible tours with Iker and Basque Guides, and every single one was professionally organized and flawlessly executed. The guides were all punctual, knowledgeable, and friendly. Gorka led two of our tours—Biarritz & the Coastal Tour and a private Rioja winery & lunch—and was outstanding. He even captured amazing photos and videos for us. Be sure to request him if you can! Sandra gave us a fantastic introduction to San Sebastián’s food scene—we revisited several pintxo bars on our own afterward (don’t miss the foie gras!). Juan accompanied us to Pamplona for the running of the bulls, where we had a VIP balcony view and great company. And of course, Iker—the mastermind behind it all—welcomed us into a traditional, exclusive Gastronomy Club for a private dinner with a local chef and a truly special evening among new friends. Thanks to Iker and his team, our short visit to San Sebastián and the Basque region was smooth, memorable, and full of highlights. We highly recommend Basque Guides to anyone visiting the area. We had an amazing time with our guide, Iker. It was easy to connect with him, you can tell how much passion he has for all things Basque - from the food, the language, down to the history. He is knowledgeable without being overbearing and answered questions we had. He had loads of local spot recommendations for us, it felt as if we had a friend who lived locally. The walking pintxos tour was definitely a highlight. I still have vivid memories of the dishes we tried. Plus he takes amazing photos too! I was 6 months pregnant and not once did he make me feel like he was compromising our tour, instead He adjusted our pace accordingly to suit everyone in the group. He understood the assignment.

This 4-day tour in the Basque country was outstanding. Each day the experience was amazing and the extra care taken to ensure we enjoyed the day was greatly appreciated. Each guide, Carlotta, Juan, Jaime and Daniel were passionate about the areas we visited. They were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this tour and it was probably the best guided experience I have had.

Having used iker services was the most assertive thing I could do. My arrival in Madrid was hit by the loss of the connecting flight to San Sebastian. Iker was responsible for finding alternative transport to Bilbao which was the only flight we could get close to and manage the collection of our luggage in San Sebastian. As you see, all chaos. Once in San Sebastian the trip flowed spectacularly and Daniel, our guide for the next 4 days was spectacular, patient and very pleasant. Daniel made our visit to San Sebastian a unique and pleasant experience and we gained a friend on this trip, okay? I recommend the services of this agency 100%.

The best part of Basque Country vacation is experiencing it through the eyes of a local. Owner of Basque Guides, Iker Bardaji, loves his homeland and generously shares his unparalleled knowledge of its history, culture, lifestyle and gastronomy. I cannot recommend Iker enough. He is so full of energy, passion, empathy and expertise. He creates a custom tour that speaks to your exact interests and abilities. Iker has a luxurious, spacious van which makes touring comfortable and safe. He finds the best places to eat, the best dishes to order, and gains first class access to them. We loved our excursions to St. Jean de Luz and Biarritz one day. On another, he took us to Bilbao and small towns where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. We learned about the wines of the region and sampled several. He was always on time and was able to arrange private transfers to airports and train stations for us. Best of all, his fluency in the English language is impeccable. I would not hesitate to recommend spending time with Iker and his expert helpers. We fell in love with the Basque country thanks to him and can't wait to return.

Iker knows his Basque culture and it is refreshing to see it being kept alive when it was almost lost. Iker is a true historian of the Basque people and a foodie and it was seen throughout our days with him and in the recommendations he provided for our meals. What Iker showed us in such a short time has made me want to come back to the region to see and learn more about the Basque traditions and maybe even tackle the language.
