Mateo, our guide was great ! Both the walk to the cascades as the bird watching was exceptionel.

I had a wonderful day, the tour was efficiently planned from start to finish and every station was completely worth it.

What an amazing day. From pick up to drop off, our guide Mateo exceeded our expectations with his attention, knowledge, and flexibility. His friendly and personable way made it feel like we were spending the day with a good friend who was showing us his favorite sites around and near Quito. He shared cultural and nature facts that allowed us to connect with our experience. We started with a trek to the waterfall at the Reserva Orquideoligica el where we saw and learned about its botanical beauty and wonders . Next, we visited Las Contigas Reserve, food station to Mindo’s hummingbird, bird, and critters. This was the highlight of the day as the winged wonders drafted and dashed about settle for brief moments to perch upon our outstretched hand to take in nectar. So many varieties and colors, from ones that wore white boots to metallically brilliant colors, just wow! We could have spend the whole day with there. Our next stop was Al Jardin de Las Mariposas where we saw the butterfly life cycle and walked through the jardin filled with a fluttering variety of butterflies. Then we made a quick stop at Mindo Maya Chocolate Artesaul for a couple of bars of amazing chocolate before driving to A La Mitad del Mundo for some pictures. One last stop at the Basilica del Coro National where we said farewell to the amazing Mateo and made our way up each of the breathtaking towers, spied the unique, locally inspired gargoyles, and snapped pictures of the breathtaking views, ornate structural detail, stunning stained glass. Such a wonderful day! *bonus to private tour is that we were able to set our own schedule, adding on the middle of the world and getting to the Basilica before closing.

We booked this tour ahead of our arrival in Ecuador. We received timely responses from Ines to all of our questions and our tour guide (Mateo Nicholas de Benueza Pepinos) was on time and ready at our hotel to get the day going as scheduled. The tour takes the entire day and there is a lot of driving required to get us to see everything in the cloud forest. Mateo was a great driver throughout the day and would safely stop/slow down anytime something caught our eyes. He shared a lot of information and details about the Ecuadorian nature. He took extra care and provided a helping hand on the trails/hikes so that my wife would be able to get everywhere given she sprained a knee a couple weeks earlier and was a bit apprehensive of those walks. The hummingbird portion was the highlight of this tour and we have countless videos and pictures of us feeding them. We also toured the butterfly farm where you can see from larvae to fully grown species - very beautiful. We highly recommend this tour and a big thank you to Mateo.

The guide, Andreas, was a wealth of knowledge! We learned about jungle plants, observed 20 species of hummingbirds from our hand up to several feet away, visited a butterfly arboretum, and learned why Ecuadorian chocolate is so good!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Mindo Cloud Forest Full-Day Tour We had a fantastic full-day tour of the Mindo Cloud Forest. The scenery was spectacular, with lush vegetation, beautiful waterfalls, and incredible biodiversity everywhere we looked. The hummingbird reserve was amazing, and we were especially fortunate to spot two plate-billed mountain toucans, which was a real highlight of the day. The butterfly sanctuary was absolutely breathtaking, with hundreds of colorful butterflies creating a truly magical experience. Lunch was delicious, and the chocolate tasting was a delightful experience that perfectly complemented the day. A special thank you to our guide, Andres, who was excellent from start to finish. We learned so much throughout the day, and his knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendly personality made the experience even more enjoyable. He was a pleasure to spend the day with and truly enhanced the entire tour. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Quito and looking to experience the beauty of the Mindo Cloud Forest!

The guide was fantastic, we shared a great time together, full of knowledge. The entire cloud forest road was fantastic. In the hummingbird sanctuary I got the opportunity to see some different species of them even some of them landed in my hand to drink nectar and also in the same place I seen toucans and different kind of mammals too.

We spent our first full day in Equador on this tour with Matteo. It was a fantastic kickoff for our vacation! It was a nice mix of time viewing the countryside from the car and stopping for our visits. The highlight for us was the bird sanctuary. It was the experience of a lifetime seeing exotic birds and having hummingbirds alight on our fingers. Matteo was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and exemplified customer service. He clearly enjoyed sharing his love of nature with us. He was a great driver though the winding roads. Don’t hesitate to book this tour. Truly an experience we will never forget!
