Auschwitz fue el principal y más famoso de los seis campos de concentración y exterminio establecidos por Alemania para implementar la política de Solución Final, que tenía como objetivo el asesinato masivo de judíos europeos. Fue construido en la Polonia ocupada por Alemania, inicialmente como un campo de concentración para polacos, más tarde también para otras nacionalidades. Para conocer el lugar, es necesario visitar ambas partes del antiguo campamento - Auschwitz I y Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Tenemos que pasar aproximadamente 2 horas para alojarse en Auschwitz y aproximadamente 1 hora a Birkenau.
Ubicada entre el campo principal de Auschwitz I y Auschwitz II-Birkenau, la Judenramp sirvió como punto inicial de llegada desde 1942 hasta mayo de 1944. En este lugar, los oficiales de las SS llevaban a cabo las infames "selecciones", en las que los prisioneros que llegaban eran divididos entre aquellos considerados aptos para trabajos forzados y aquellos enviados directamente a las cámaras de gas.
El edificio que sirvió como residencia del comandante del campo de Auschwitz-Birkenau Rudolf Höss y su familia de 1940 - 1944. Höss fue uno de los principales arquitectos del Holocausto. Introdujo el sistema de asesinatos en masa usando gas, inicialmente con cuartos de ducha llenos de Zyklon B, y más tarde desarrollando sistemáticamente las instalaciones del campo, como cámaras de gas y crematorios. Auschwitz II-Birkenau fue el segundo campo mucho más grande que formaba parte del complejo de Auschwitz. Fue establecido en 1941, a unos 3 kilómetros al oeste del campamento principal de Auschwitz I, y se convirtió en uno de los sitios más conocidos asociados con el Holocausto. Birkenau fue principalmente un campo de exterminio, donde tuvo lugar el exterminio masivo de judíos, romaníes, prisioneros políticos y otros grupos perseguidos por el régimen nazi. El complejo del campo de Birkenau consistía en numerosos cuarteles, así como poderosas cámaras de gas y crematorios, donde los nazis llevaban a cabo asesinatos masivos de prisioneros que eran transportados al campo desde toda Europa. Se estima que alrededor de 1 millón de personas murieron en Birkenau, principalmente judíos, pero también romaníes, polacos, prisioneros de guerra y otras víctimas del régimen nazi.

This was an absolutely fantastic tour. Our driver had a beautiful car, was so professional and personable, and the drive was so smooth. The guide was so informative, sensitive and gave so many details and stories. I cannot fault a single thing and I would 100 percent recommend. I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel compelled to because this tour was absolutely perfect. Oskar messaged prior to the tour, and the driver George messaged on the the day and was ready to pick us up straight after the tour. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our driver Oskar was absolutely terrific!!! I highly recommend this booking. There were some things I didn’t understand and Oskar was extremely helpful making sure I had everything set up the way I needed for my family. My husband also had a bag leg and he was extremely helpful making sure he was able to do what was possible and went the extra mile. I can’t say enough good things about our experience.

Prior to the visit date we were kept informed of timings and transport. This also included drivers names and advice on the tour itself. We visited during a very hot spell, which not only did events organisers advise us about, but the recommendation of pre ordering a lunch/food box as time is tight between the two camps. These were great value and a fine selection. The transport was modern, air conditioned with a friendly, knowledgeable driver. The tour guide was knowledgeable on all aspects visited and with a wide range of questions asked. They were also mindful of the extreme weather conditions ensuring the group were prepared and kept in the shade where possible. A humbling and sober tour, delivered in a professional manner from start to finish.
Our operator Oskar arrived punctually in a nice minivan and regaled us with information on Poland and Auschwitz en route to the Auschwitz trip. He took care of everything and entry into the museum with our private guide was very smooth! He also arranged our linch boxes and was promptly waiting for us at pickup points. Our tour exceeded our expectations! Barbara was our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the history of the Krakow Jewish quarter and Schindler's factory. She was friendly and helpful. Couldnt have asked for more. Highly recommend!!!
Wonderfully painless. Oskar picked us up right at our doorway in Krakow and delivered us safely to our guide at Auschwitz. He made sure that we had water, restrooms, etc without us having to ask. The tour experience is draining, so having a safe, comfortable ride back home was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend -Oskar is an excellent driver.

Our driver arrived timely and got us to our destination. He arranged for our tickets to the museum, and waited till our tour was over to bring us back to Krakow. It was effortless!

Auschwitz is a must see, heartbreaking but eye-opening. It was drizzling when we went but the tour was efficient, well managed.
