Entrada no incluida30 min

Avoid This Company

We booked this tour well in advance. The day before, we were informed that the departure time had been changed to several hours earlier, which unfortunately did not work for us. I understand that unexpected changes can happen, but when it is the company that changes the scheduled time, customers should be given the option to cancel and receive a refund if the new time is no longer suitable. All communication is handled through WhatsApp. If you do not have the app, you will not receive or be able to read any updates regarding your tour. When we tried to cancel after the company moved the tour to three hours earlier than the time we had originally booked and paid for, we were told that neither a cancellation nor a refund was possible. Because of this experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend this company.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it is when schedule adjustments disrupt your travel plans. Because the Wieliczka Salt Mine is an extremely popular world heritage site with strict visitor quotas, the exact entrance slots are assigned directly by the mine’s management. As noted in our tour description, departure times can occasionally shift depending on the official tickets issued to us, though we always do our best to keep changes to a minimum and notify guests as far in advance as possible. Regarding our communication channels, we use WhatsApp as a quick and convenient way to reach travelers on the go, but we also send all important tour updates and confirmations via email and SMS to ensure guests without the app receive their details. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding how this timing change impacted your day, as it helps us continuously review how we communicate schedule adjustments to our guests. Kind Regards, Discover Cracow Team

A must to do while in Krakow!

I have claustrophobia, that's why I'm afraid to do it, but my second mind says that it's one of the best experiences I've had while in Krakow, Poland, and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since I'm with my husband, I decided why not give it a try, and I didn't regret it. I really enjoyed the tour, and our guide is so funny, so I didn't feel uncomfortable during the whole tour. I'm so glad I decided to do it, because it's a unique experience, and the history of the mines is incredible, especially how difficult the miners have been to get through before without the help of machines. I highly recommend that anyone visiting Krakow take this salt mine tour, you'll love it. I really appreciate our guide for such an incredible tour!

Unmissable day trip from Krakow to salt mines

An excellent trip to an amazing place. John the bus guide had very good English and kept us well informed. Isobella, our guide at the mine was excellent and had brilliant knowledge about the mine and had a good sense of humour.

Nice place.

Many steps down, but a great trip. Takes about 2 hours with a guide. A nice place to visit, with much history.

Nice experience, but not...

Nice experience, but I wouldn't repeat it. Very focused on statues and not on the actual mine work. If you have little time in Krakow, do not opt for this activity.

Do NOT use this company!

Do NOT book with this company! They had terrible communication-I had reached out with questions prior to the tour and no response. The information indicated all included however when you click on full itinerary it indicates the salt mine admission is not included. They confirmed the day and time the day prior to the tour. Late afternoon the day before the tour they changed the time and pick up location even after confirming my original time. They sent an email that I needed to accept-respond to the email. I did respond indicating that I do not accept the last minute change as we had a conflict. Silence! Never heard back from them! They refuse to refund my money. So disappointing!!

Salt Mines Trip

Great place to visit. History of the salt mines is fascinating and St Kinga’s chapel is breathtaking. Well worth a visit whilst staying in Krakow. Only 30-40 minutes from city square by car/bus. Don’t be put off by the 800 steps as they are wide wooden steps in stages with handrails both sides, and you don’t have to walk down 800 all in one go.

Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful review and for providing such reassuring advice for future visitors! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you found the history of the Wieliczka Salt Mine fascinating and that the magnificent St. Kinga’s Chapel took your breath away. It truly is a subterranean wonder well worth the short 30-40 minute journey from the city square. Your practical tip about the stairs is incredibly helpful! Many guests feel a bit intimidated when they first hear about the 800 steps, so your reminder that they are sturdy, wooden, equipped with handrails, and broken up into manageable stages is fantastic advice. It makes a big difference for those planning their own underground adventure. Thank you once again for choosing to explore with us, and we hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable trips around Kraków in the future! The chapel was amazing...

The chapel was amazing and 130 metres below ground. 9 floors of which 3 are open to the public. The remaining 6 will be filled with sand.

Superb

There is not many times I will give a 5 star rating However the salt mine is worth every star for the shear breath taking size of the place and the experience. I only gave a 4 for the audio, I explain later. Had a pickup which happily was close to our hotel, excellent starting guide with a 30 min bus trip to mine. By the way you can get to the mine by train from the main station of Glowney , however not sure how you get from station to mine the other end. Lots of steps down (300 or so ) all very good condition all in blocks of 8 steps descending in a well lite shaft. Too difficult to write up the whole experience, but at times breathtaking. I didn’t ask how far we walked but it must have been several Km’s so wear comfortable footwear. My only criticism is the audio system, a single earplug which was nye on impossible to hear the guide, at Auschwitz we were give a proper head set which fitted over my hearing aids.

Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed and thoughtful review with us! We are absolutely thrilled to receive your high praise and to know that the sheer, breathtaking scale of the Wieliczka Salt Mine earned a 5-star experience in your book. It is wonderful that the transport pick-up from your hotel went smoothly and that our starting guide looked after you well on the way to the mine. You are entirely correct about the walk—the route covers over 2 kilometers and features around 800 steps in total (starting with that grand descent down the Danilowicz Shaft!), so your advice to wear comfortable footwear is spot on! We also sincerely appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the audio system. We completely understand how important clear audio is, especially when using hearing aids. While the single-earpiece systems are standard equipment provided directly by the Salt Mine museum to all tour agencies, we take your accessibility feedback very seriously. We will certainly pass your comments along to the mine's management team so they can look into offering more inclusive headset options, similar to those used at Auschwitz. Thank you again for choosing to explore this spectacular underground wonder with us, and we hope to welcome you on another adventure in the future!
