This is the 2nd time we have done a bio tour. 1st was at Fajardo in Kayaks. This is our 2nd at Vieques in a boat. We have 2 young kids and this boat was the “way to go”/ and worth it! I recommend you stay overnight at the island Vieques so to have peace of mind and no rushed feeling trying to catch the ferry back to the main island. This is how we did it. 2 night stay at Vieques. 730PM (yes it’s dark already sunset is 7PM) tour. I brought a small bag on board with some waters only. We enjoyed the stars & YES saw the bioluminescence. In my opinion it is not what a lot of the pictures online show, but it is absolutely worth it. Such a magical experience and I’m not impressed easily. Either way best to go in with low expectations, not what social media shows you & enjoy the experience and what you will see!
Excellent experience! Very well organized tour. We were there with our 2 children (14 and 10 years old). We took the 7 pm tour to be able to take the ferry back ... without problem you can request a taxi to get to the pier in front of the start of the tour (10 dollars / pers ...)
Doing the boat tour was great. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and ready to take any and all questions. A very unique experience for any age
Highly recommend the boat tour! The staff are friendly and the guide is extremely knowledgeable. Overall an excellent experience!
We had a wonderful guide that explained the uniqueness of the bay, the strength of the bioluminescent creatures and how they are intertwined. He also took time talk about the sky, planets, and stars.
Cool but way overpriced. Teens lost interest very fast and so did the adults. It should be warned too that there is absolutely nothing near the pick up point and if you're on the 10pm tour if you dont reserve a taxi in advance youll be dropped off in the middle of nowhere and left
Hi, i Think there is a confusion we are the only legally company to operate at mosquito bay by the goverment. Our pickup location has a gazebo with lights, benches and a boat to tale photos with your family. On top of that we have a employee recevimg guests to check in. You 100% went with a ilegal boat tour that only cares about money and not give a great experience for guests. That is what you all lost interest on the tour. We have nevert picked up in a desolate area. The worst part is they dont have no where to leave a review and we are being punished beacause we are the only one that has a permit.
We spent two airline tickets on Air Vieques, extra luggage fee of 400.00 because we were coming directly from a cruise, and hotel ONLY to see the bay. So you can imagine our great disappointment to learn it was the cancelled at 4:00 pm the day of the tour. They stated that a van couldn’t be secured for transport to the boat. There were a total of 5-6 people also waiting. We could have driven to the boat considering all of us had cars or hired a taxi to the boat. They offered a next day offering, but we were leaving the next morning. I want the provider to be cognizant of the fact that travelers to this island come for this experience, and unless it is something out of their control such as weather, lack of crew, or broken down boat, they should make efforts to honor the tour.
Great tour, great guide. We wanted to do the Mosquito Bay tour, but couldn’t manage the logistics on our own. Luckily, our hotel was able to book us last minute onto this tour. Robert, the captain and owner, took care of us from the moment we signed on, arranging our ferry tickets and rides to Esperanza. In fact, Robert and his wife Glenda drove us. The tour itself was simply magical. Robert is the only operator with a boat, which means you see more, get away from the hoards on kayaks, and can truly enjoy every minute. The stars were fantastic and Robert pointed out all the constellations. We had dinner at Duffy’s while waiting, and the fish tacos were the best. Can’t recommend this more! It was totally worth the time spent. Thank you to Robert and Glenda!
We had high hopes for our tour of Mosquito Bay in Vieques with Isla Nena Bio Bay Tours, and our experience was absolutely amazing! We chose a date after checking moonrise and moonset, and by choosing a date that had moonset before sunset, we were guaranteed that the light of the moon would not impact our tour. We also chose to take an electric boat rather than a kayak because of our ages (60s and 70s). We boarded a van at the pickup site on our confirmation email, and had a bumpy ride over unpaved roads to the bay. The walkway onto the boat was narrow, but 2 members of the staff walked in the water on either side of the walkway, offering hands when needed to get us to the boat safely. We cruised out to the center of the bay, enjoying the commentary of our guide describing both the bioluminescence of the water and the abundance of stars overhead. We were given poles to stir the water and were amazed at the resulting glow. Fish that were swimming near the surface or jumping in the bay created an effect similar to shooting stars. Our guide answered many questions, and pointed out constellations in the clear sky. It was a beautiful experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Rico
We just returned from our boat tour with Eddy as the captain and he was great. So knowledgeable. The Bay was beautiful and the night sky was full of stars that he also pointed out planets and constellations. The bio bay was so cool and the fish were fun to watch. I would so recommend this tour.
