Anibal was so amazing!! He was very patient and positive on the difficult trail. We had a great time with him and always felt safe.
I always enjoyed hiking but that was hiking on steroids!! I had the opportunity to either hike, use a motorcycle or horseback to the top. I wanted the full walking experience as the Incas would do so I walked. I went all the way to the top and felt it was quite an accomplishment considering the elevation and 40 percent less oxygen at that height. Machu Picchu was my main event in Peru but this surprised me so much that it ended being my second favorite adventure.
It was an incredible experience at Rainbow Mountain with expert adventure guides and great photographers, and they helped us get horses to reach Rainbow Mountain at over 5,000 meters above sea level.
This is a spectacular experience and a must to truly feel the Andes Mountains. The guide, Juan, was great and the entire trip is streamlined and efficient.
A worthwhile trip - we had snow, so wrap up warm. The snow slowly melted throughout the hike and we were rewarded with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Rainbow Mountain slowly revealed the amazing colours by lunchtime and our photos are stunning. A delicious breakfast and lunch were provided in beautiful surroundings. The hike wasn’t too arduous and can also be made on horseback with locals.
It was a wonderful trip, excellent service, and above all, such a beautiful landscape, truly marvelous, recommended!
Beto was an amazing guide and did a fantastic job leading us throughout the day. Hiking Rainbow Mountain is NO joke! We came prepared with altitude medicine, coca tea, and coca candy, but even that was not enough for the challenging hike. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the horse ride on the way up (80 sol), which definitely helped. Throughout the hike, Beto continuously encouraged and motivated us to keep going and reach the top. Although we did not make it to Red Mountain, we would have loved the opportunity to see it as well. The included breakfast and lunch were both delicious, and the bus ride to the mountain was very comfortable. We also lucked out with perfect weather, which made the experience even better. Thank you, Beto, for such a GREAT day!
We had such a great experience, everything exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He made sure everyone in our group could keep up comfortably. The breakfast and lunch tasted great and was at a really clean and new hotel. Would highly recommend this.
José is an amazing tour guide. He is very talkative and friendly. He picked the best time for the rainbow mountain, it starts to rain shortly after we start to descend. We didn’t bring any cash and he paid the entrance fee for us and we paid him when we are back in Cusco. He also took care of my friend when she had severe AMS, giving her meds and called a horse to carry her. We are very grateful for him and happy about the experience
We went with GetYourGuide. We were picked up punctually at 3am from Cusco hotel. This meant that we'd get to Rainbow Mountain before lots of people. Good breakfast, and lunch on way back. As we'd completely the 3.5 Inca Trail 2 days beforehand, we decide to hire a pony each, to get up the hill. It was great fun. We each paid 80 soles, but tipped the pony owner 20 soles too. Take coins for the well-serviced toilets. We walked up the rest of the hill (over 5000 metres high). Wrap up well - gloves, layers, hats, sunglasses. We were lucky that the fog lifted. Stunning.
