La ciudad Mitad del Mundo, ubicada a pocos minutos de Quito, es un icono del turismo en Ecuador, en este particular museo disfrutaremos de algunas actividades propias de la física, que únicamente suceden en el centro del Planeta!!!. Tales como la forma en la que rota el agua, si se puede parar un huevo en un clavo, entre otros!!! Luego de la visita podremos sellar nuestro pasaporte, con un sello único y diferente… El sello “Del Centro del Planeta”. Esta es una visita imposible de no hacer por los visitantes de la ciudad de Quito!!.

Itinerario
A las 2:30 PM, nos encontraremos en el Bulevar de las Naciones Unidas (170102 Quito, Ecuador), para subirnos a un bus y comenzar nuestra actividad. Posterior a eso nos dirigimos a la “Ciudad Mitad del Mundo”, donde haremos un corto tour en el monumento que divide el hemisferio norte del hemisferio sur del planeta. Este elemento fue construido en el siglo XVIII, momento en el que la expedición científica francesa definió la línea Ecuatorial, misma que divide al mundo en dos partes iguales, esta es una visita imposible de no hacer por los visitantes de la ciudad de Quito!!. En la Mitad del Mundo donde viviremos experiencias que desafían las leyes de la física y que se producen únicamente en el centro del Planeta. Luego de la visita podremos sellar nuestro pasaporte, con un sello único y diferente… El sello “Del Centro del Planeta” Una vez finalizada la actividad, regresaremos a nuestro punto de partida.
En la Ciudad Mitad del Mundo, podrás explorar los sitios culturales alrededor del complejo turístico como el Museo Etnográfico y Viviendas Ancestrales. También podrás subir las escaleras del monumento mientras aprendes sobre la historia y cultura de Ecuador.
Alrededor de las 6:30 PM, estaremos de vuelta en Bulevar Naciones Unidas para finalizar nuestro recorrido.

Went here on a small group tour. Very interesting! Nobody went there but myself. 14 of us in the group with more women than men. They all wanted to go shopping so I went by myself. The elevator wasn't working so I took many flights of stairs but, each floor had displays and was like a museum! Lots to learn about Ecuador! Once on top, what a beautiful view of the area and Quito!! Once back with the group I told them about it and most were sad they didn't go!
I received a message a day before from Liv Ecuador, I believe it’s a local operator of this tour, that tour is canceled due to not enough people. Then next day, the day I booked for, received another message tour is ongoing. I was confused and a bit upset about for such short notice as I planned to do something else already, but Heidi (sorry if I spell wrong) and Julio were great guide, speak good English and a lot knowledge! We had like two hours at Mitad del Mundo and it was enough time. To see Ecuadorian houses, chocolate museum (Good to know about Ecuadorian chocolate), beer museum, stamp on your passport were all included. I highly recommend to go up to the rooftop of tower, it’s also free. Lift was broken and needed to use stairs, though!
Obviously this is a must see if you are in Ecuador. The neighborhood is very rough around the edges. The middle of the world city is like a small tourist enclave. Google maps takes you to the wrong location. But once you get to the traffic circle, you can't miss the place. The complex itself is a little bit over the top touristy. Of course there's nothing wrong with a place that caters to tourists, but I think a more technical / scientific / science-museum-like environment would have been more appropriate than a bunch of trinket shops. The price is cheap to get in and there are a few decent snack shops inside. A trip to the top of the tower is of course a must see, but don't expect too much of an impressive view from the top. The real beautiful view is often the distance and you can see it perfectly fine from surface level. After you visit this spot be sure to go next door Intinan museum and exhibit. That's where you will get a little bit more interesting albeit some not so accurate facts about the equator.
