So happy we booked a northern lights tour through them. Super responsive and helpful which is always appreciated. The vehicle was comfortable and spacious. Our guide, Tamas is kind, knowledgeable and found us a great spot to view the lights. We had a great evening thanks to superjeep and Tamas!
We did a Private Northern Lights Superjeep Tour with Tamas as our driver/guide and it was a terrific experience. The aurora forecast for the night that we went out was moderate and there were some clouds in the area so it was a challenge to be able to see the Northern Lights. Tamas though did a terrific job, expertly bringing us to a few locations until we could find them. He was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.
We took two separate trips with Super Jeep and were glad we did. The first one, on Friday 21st November, to see the Northern Lights looked like we'd had a wasted journey. We stood outside on a chilly night and got to see the Milky Way and shooting stars, but a a pesky cloud was barring the way where we needed the sky to be clear. Being in a small group in a sturdy vehicle our driver was able to take us across rough terrain. He eventually decided we should move from our spot by the sea, further inland and we found ourselves in a lava field. I confess by 11 pm I was ready to give up (and most of the coaches did), but Christian (sorry if I got his name wrong) is more patient than me and we hung around until midnight when the Northern Lights decided to reveal themselves and gave us a great 30 minute performance. It's important to realise it doesn't look like the videos and photos you see online. They appear a greyish colour but you can clearly see the bands, swirls and droplets as they move across the sky. My camera doesn't have a night mode, so I was extra glad that Christian had set up his super dooper camera and took as many photos of all of us as we wanted. We got back, tired and happy at 2am. Next morning, we were up bright and early, for The Golden Circle tour with Erik, who is a master at off road driving. He took us to waterfalls, geysers, National Park, avoided the trolls, and took us up a glacier in the jeep while the rest of the party went snowmobiling. We even had time for an ice cream. This was a memorable day and I highly recommend Super Jeep for both these tours.
Our driver and guide did as much as he could to hunt down the Northern lights but it was never going to happen. Our experience was cancelled the evening before. I felt thd cost of the excursion on reflection was far too expensive in light of the experience we had and no lights were seen. Disappointed obviously but the experience is far too expensive.
Our driver Oli was so friendly and despite activity for the lights being moderate on the forecast he found them pretty quickly. The area we were watching soon became full of other tourists so he moved to his favourite spot, pretty remote and absolutely freezing. We’d been waiting in -15 for some time, I was ready to go back but he had a feeling, oh my, the 20 minute light show and dancing of the northern lights right above us we experienced was breathtaking, something we could never have witnessed without our brilliant guides experience. Oh and the hot chocolate with added vodka made the cold that little bit easier! Fabulous guide, loved it!
Went out hunting with Ants. He was absolutely fabulous. Fun, interesting stories, and worked hard to help us see the lights. In the end, we only could see them well via a camera shot, but of course there are no guarantees! But even so, we would highly, highly recommend. Comfortable ride, and the tremendous beauty of the clear starry sky, shooting stars and the “haze” of the NLs ( looked a bit like the Milky Way) was well worth it. Thanks Ants!
Omar was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He made our northern lights hunt memorable. We had a blast. Highly recommend this tour.
Our family of four with a 10-&13-year-old had a great time seeing the Northern Lights with Superjeep.is. The four of us were in a jeep with our guide Oli who picked us up at our hotel in Reykjavik and we later met up and caravanned with other Superjeeps to find a nice spot with clear skies and low wind to wait for the Northern Lights to show themselves. The show is way more spectacular through the camera lens, but we still have some fabulous photos (provided by Superjeep) and experience of a lifetime. They keep the jeeps warm and cozy so you can jump in and out to warm up.
We took this tour as a private group with the jeep all to ourselves (6 of us), weather wise it wan't the best evening but the advantage of the jeep (and the fact that the company have several jeeps out on the road, with radio communications) is that once on jeep has found them, they can guide in the others so we were lucky enough to see the lights on a cloudy evening, this was especially good as it was close to the start of the season, approaching solar minimum so some of the odds were against us. Katie was a fab driver (although speed bumps, in the back row of a superjeep leaving the city feel much more like an off-road experience). The free photos after the event are an added bonus, and although there was a slight problem with access the correct folder of photos, the company were very responsive to emails to finally get the correct link sent to us, so we could see the photos of the members of our jeep. The chocolate and vodka was fab. There is always a risk the lights won't play ball, but I could not fault Superjeeps efforts to get us to them
I have been on super jeeps northern lights tour twice once in 2016 and then again this past march and they are just incredible. The guides are funny, knowledgeable, and want you to have the best time! You caravan with a few other jeeps around Iceland trying to find the lights. Both times I went on this tour, we found them! I absolutely recommend this tour and company!
