Santiago was very knowledgeable and eating at local hotspots was a treat and developed a new sense for high quality of Ecuadorian food.
What an amazing tour this was! From the very start, Santiago was engaging, informative, and enthusiastic, telling us all about not only the food but also Ecuador and Quito's history, culture, etc. The food itself was absolutely delicious (how did I not know that Ecuadorian food is incredible?!), and the streets and neighborhoods and markets we traversed were interesting and fun, but it was Santiago's excellent guidework that made our experience so terrific.
We had a fabulous time on the Street Food tour in Quito with Ernesto. We tasted many amazing dishes, got to explore more of the city on foot (instead of just staying in the historic center), saw beautiful street art, and just generally had a great time. Also learned a lot about how typical Ecuadorians live. We're pescatarians and they were easily able to accommodate our diet. Definitely recommend!
Outstanding tour! Santiago is a great guide, he really cares about his country and city and it shows. We got a ton of great local historical and current information, and every bite was excellent. Highly recommend this tour, and Santiago in particular as a guide.
Santiago was gracias, kind and super informative as our guide. I was a little worried about eating “street food” and perhaps getting sick, and I can tell you everything is fresh or cooked thoroughly. The fresh parts are the fruits that are literally cut open in front of you and you eat directly, or they might add the pulp to a blender with some milk and make a fruit smoothie. All very interesting and you see parts of Quito old town that I would not have visited by myself as a tourist in a strange city. Great short tour if you want to get out of your hotel for a few hours and see the real Quito!
Amazing experience on the Quito Street Food Essentials tour! Santi was an incredible guide super knowledgeable about the local food, history, and culture, and genuinely kind and welcoming. I ended up being the only one on the tour, which made it a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience. He took the time to explain every dish and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The food was authentic, delicious, and full of local flavor places I would’ve never found on my own. You can really tell Santi cares about giving a meaningful experience, not just a tour. Definitely a must-do in Quito!
Come hungry and thirsty! The fruit, juices, and snacks were delicious and plentiful. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food as well as the local history, art and architecture.
Nicely paced, great mixture of Ecuadorian food, historical and architectural info. Great overview of Quito! Santiago very personable, answered our many questions, and was eager to be sure we were happy with the tour. We enjoyed our day with him.
Excellent tour! Ernesto has a passion for food and Ecuador that shines through. Everything we tasted was well prepared and delicious. This chef's curated tour was truly reflection of Ecuadorian cuisine and culture..
Whenever traveling, my fiancée and I always try to book a food tour at the start of a trip to get an idea of the local cuisine, as well as get recommendations for places to try during our stay. This Street Food Tour was far and away the best tour we have done. Our guide Ernesto had an incredible understanding of local cuisine as well as the culture of the city. Each stop was not just a local food stop, but truly told the story of daily life and food in Quito. From the small shop where kids from the local school go for an after school snack, to the local market where workers go to fill up on their lunch break, we tried an abundance of delicious food while learning about the history of the city and its people. We ended the tour enjoying a local beer and handmade cocktail while tasting local chocolate in an amazing art space while discussing the current food scene as well as the direction local cuisine is heading. We also were able to leave with a long list of restaurants and bars to try during our stay, which all helped continue to show the Ecuadorian food landscape in different lights (and were all very delicious). We cannot recommended this tour enough to those looking to truly experience Ecuadorian cuisine as well as learn more about the city and people of Quito.
