The best aspect of the trip was transportation to Moray and Maras for only $13 per person. The negative parts were: (1) I wasn’t told until 7:30am that we would be picked up for the 9:00 tour at 8:25. Then they showed up at my hotel 15 minutes before that and called to say we had 5 minutes to get ready. (2) would rather have more time at the sites rather than a waste of time stop at a craft store that is not even listed in the itinerary. (3) our guide Raul gave a lot more detail in the Spanish explanation compared to the English version.
The scenery along the way and the attractions we visited were all fabulous. However, we booked an English speaking tour guide but his English was very limited and his speech was very difficult to understand. The majority of the group spoke Spanish and he spent much more time explaining things to them than to the English speakers. The listing said we would be picked up at our hotel. Instead a guy (not the guide) who spoke good English, showed and said we had to walk 2 blocks to meet the van. Eight blocks later we had to wait at least 10 minutes for the van to show up. After driving a few minutes, the van stopped and the guy who led us to the van got out. Another guy, who turned out to be the guide, got in. He didn’t say a word or introduce himself. At the end we were dropped off at what he said was the main square however we were at least 2 blocks from it and several blocks from our hotel. The van was in disrepair. We asked for AC and were told they had but they left the windows open even while we were traveling on very dusty dirt roads. The van had trouble getting up the hills. I would tell you the driver and the guide’s name but they never introduced themselves. I could go on and on but you get the picture. I have been on many tours in many countries and never experienced such a poor guide. Go to these places but not with Machu Picchu Best Tours.
It was a great day ! The guides were fantastic and knowledgeable. I would recommend it was a good price.
We booked the Tour because the description promised to skip all the touristy, commercial Sites and focuses on Maras and Moray. We ended up visiting three commercial Stores (Alpaka clothes, chocolate and a Viewpoint at a Lake we should pay for) and we're later back in Cusco than expected. We barely had time at Maras and Moray (25 and 10 minutes) to enjoy the scenery, the vendor places consumed all the time. All in all please do not book this tour.
We did this half day tour of the agricultural terraces of Moray and salt pans of Maras with Travel Peru Best. Alexander was with us right from the start till the end of the trip and he is extremely friendly, patience and remarkably knowledgable and informative. He explained everything in detail and was very thoughtful too. We had a superb time and will surely reccomend this company.
