Bait and Switch – Avoid This Overpriced, Indoor Disappointment!Save your money and book elsewhere. We paid a premium price expecting a beautiful, historic oceanfront luau, but because they didn’t have enough people signed up, they moved us into a small, dark, indoor banquet room. We completely missed out on the outdoor ambiance, couldn't see the arrival of the royal canoe boat, and missed out on many of the promised cultural elements.To make matters worse, the quality of what they delivered was a total rip-off for the money they charge. The food was completely tasteless—the poke was old and soft, and the lomi lomi salmon was clearly cheap, frozen fish. On top of that, the drinks were incredibly watery and served in cheap plastic cups. Had I known they would force us indoors on a beautiful night due to low booking numbers, I would have canceled immediately. This was absolutely not worth it.

It was fun fun fun. This is my 3rd birthday luau and this is one of the best so far. Very delicious food and great entertainment especially the fire dance. They also showed how to cook the pork from underground or something. I could barely see because there were tall people in front of me. Still enjoyed it.

Fun and easy. Food was good and quickly available. Show was very nice. Even had mac and cheese and nuggets for kids.

Our flight was canceled the day before and our rescheduled flight arrived just as the luau was starting!! I was very impressed with the fact that the tour company called a day ahead of time to confirm our arrival. When we mentioned that we were going to be late they offered another day, but we weren’t available. When we arrived, they sat us immediately. The food was really delicious and fresh, and there was plenty of it, the entertainment was well done, the music was very authentic. Super colorful costumes and I love the story of how the Hawaiian culture came to be.🌺🤙🏼

Excellent experience, food was very good and show was outstanding! Loved the history of the Islands and where the names originated! Again, outstanding dancers and musicians!!

The luau is at the king Kamaheha Hotel in downtown Hialua-Kona. The location seems very vague in the description. But it is on the bay and is a lovely setting. I was looking forward to the “King” coming ashore but the sea was too rough. That was the only disappointment for me. My family of eight with a two, seven and nine year old children all enjoyed the show, the music and the dancing with the fire throwing at the end a great climax. The food was very good as well. They have an open bar, very weak Maitais and another bar for purchase. You must also purchase a lei if you want one.

My husband and I were staying at the Courtyard by Marriott, so we decided to give this luau a try considering it was in the same hotel. Overall, it was a great experience, but a few things to note: they don’t give leis (you have to purchase them for $10), they cram you into long tables (the table we were seated at had a terrible view of the stage; we ended up standing for a majority of the performances), the food runs out so we only got one proper serving, and it’s hard to see the canoe entrance part of the show. The highlights: the performers were fantastic and showcased dances from different islands (Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga, Hawaii, etc). Loved the storytelling aspect. The pork was delicious, but ran out quickly, so made sure you get enough the first time around. The drinks were good, and the entire experience lasted around three hours. It can also get pretty heated in the event area, so dress accordingly!

This experience shared not only the beauty of the hula dancers, but it gave important insights & information about the Polynesian & Hawaiian culture and lifestyle. The food was absolutely delicious too!

Had a great evening at the Island Breeze Luau. This was my first time to see a Luau and friends told me they had seen several and this was the best. The evening started with watching them pull out a whole pig roasted in the underground oven called Imu (and served at the buffet). Then, you see the "king" and his royal party arrive by boat. There was a short hula dance lesson which I also enjoyed. All the movements have meanings, from the fish swimming in the ocean to pulling the net to catch the fish. And finally the dances begin! It was interesting to hear the history, the background of the various dances, the colorful costumes, their expressions and the music. The fire dance at the end was awesome. The food was great, all the staff were friendly, we really had a wonderful evening!
