We froze, we were exhausted, but we also TONS of ENORMOUS manta rays. Please note you will NOT be swimming with them, you will be sitting still in the water and waiting for them to come. Borrow the darned wetsuits. We didn't and definitely regretted it, even though we are all lifeguards and very very comfortable in the water. A once in a lifetime, incredible, intense experience I will truly never forget. It was worth every shiver.
Seeing the Manta Rays was a surreal experience. It was unlike any other snorkeling tour you’ll ever do. I’ve been open ocean diving and swam with sharks and dolphins but this was by far my favorite experience. It was also great fun for the whole family my kids and wife enjoyed it throughly. The guide was amazing and the boat ride was fun too. I wouldn’t miss this experience while you’re in Kona.
Amazing sights! Guides were funny and lovely. Kept things moving fast and were very clear on what to do.
This is such a unique experience! Anyone interested in mantra rays should definitely do this. It’s a little intimidating jumping into the open ocean at night, but the guides were excellent and very reassuring.
The guys were great but this tour is too tough for me . I’m 74 and now I’m sore all over. My sister didn’t last 10 minutes.
We did this tour as a family of five, with three kids ages 10, 8, and 6. They are OK swimmers, but they always wear life jackets in open water, so we brought our own and it was just fine! The younger two were a little hesitant to jump into the dark ocean (if I'm being honest, so was I!) but as soon as they got to the board and saw all the mantas, they were just delighted. My youngest got too cold after about 10 minutes, so a crew member took him back to the boat where he hung out with the captain and watched the mantas from there, which he thought was just great! The rest of us stayed in the whole time and it was nothing short of spectacular. There were probably 8-10 mantas there for the entire time we were there (the crew did say that was more than the norm). They came within inches of our faces, and brushed against my arms a few times. We also saw several different kinds of fish (one of which jumped out of the water and hit me in the back of the head) and a reef shark. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time, as crew members in the water were constantly checking in. Back on board, there was a hot water shower to rinse off in which felt wonderful. We did rent the Go Pro ($40), and I'm glad we did. They transferred all the files onto my phone once we got back to shore. We were initially hesitant on doing this with young kids, but after reading all the reviews of this company, we went for it and I'm so glad we did. All of my kids said it's the most amazing thing they've ever done, and I'm so happy to have this memory with them!
I’ve tried a couple different companies for Manta Ray snorkeling, these guys are by far the best crew!!
I don’t know if it’s always like it was last night but it far exceeded our expectations!! We saw a total of 9 Mantas at once. They were up close and personal and my grown kids were as delighted as 2-5 year olds! lol We loved the boat and crew, Aiden (pretty sure that was his name) was awesome!
Captain Aiden and the crew, Tony and and Caiden, were attentive and engaging. The trip was amazing! What an experience to see and watch such wonderful animals. We saw 9 Manta-rays AND a reef shark!
What an incredible experience snorking up close to such majestic animals. They swam right up to us; we were shocked at how close the first time but easily got used to their presence. Make sure your comfortable swimming since the area around the rafts gets crowded. Definitely worth renting a GoPro from them for the excursion. They were waterproof and floated so no chance of loosing them. Plus they transferred the videos and pictures right to your phone after we were off the boat.
