I almost didn't go because I got very sick from the altitude, but Rómulo convinced me and even sent me to get something to help me. I wasn't at 100% and with a small mishap where we almost missed the bus to Machu Picchu, I have to say that Edison, our guide in Machu Picchu, was excellent. Machu Picchu is everything they say and more.
An excellent service. In each one of the experiences. Punctual, organized, with great clarity and safety in each of the transfers, hotels, and activities. All the guides with the best attitude. 10 out of 10.
Everything has to be followed up before and during the trip. First they did not have trickets for MP , which they informed 4 days before I was going there. I had to change to a two day trip to by tickets in Agua C. myself for the next day. I had to constant follow up at WhatsApp the days before and during the trip. Seems like no control, and doing everything in the last minute….. I would not have used this company. I got to Machu Picchu, and that was amazing😀
Dear Guest, you yourself mentioned that had a wanderfull tour in Machupicchu, which we truly apreciate, At no point -and with out our organization adn support -would you have been able to handle this process or access the site, specially securing Circuit 2, the best. Adicionally, you did not pay any extra fees for this complex operation. our teem providd full assistance at all times: we provided the money for the tickets accompanied you to the official office and guided and guided you throughtout the entire process. One inportant thing is that your reservation was made only a few days before your travel date, when tickets had already sold out for weeks a situation entirely beyond our control. You clarely informed in adavance and given the option to cancel with a full refund, yet you chose to proceed with the 2-days alternative. it s importand to emphasize that this is highly complex coperation requiring detailed cordintion and on site-support. Despite this. no addicional fees were charged , and this service was succesfully complete without any issues. King Regards Romulo
My tour was canceled with twenty four hours notice. No reason explanation no nothing. Utterly worthless waste of time. I was advised I could reschedule in a month or I could make my way to Aguascalientes and stand in line at 3:00am to try to get a ticket. I kid you not. Would you rely on these people? Me neither.
Dear Guest, we regret your comment, but it is necessary to clarify that the information you provided is not accurate. After your booking was made, we informed you that there was no availability for the selected date. The messages were sent through the platform, but you simply did not read them. Additionally, you did not provide any active contact information: the email address was ineffective for communication, and the WhatsApp number provided was not linked to an active account and did not respond to our attempts to reach you. It is important to note that tickets to Machu Picchu were sold out nearly three months in advance, and you made your reservation just four days before your intended travel date, making it virtually impossible to secure a standard entry. For this reason, we immediately offered you an alternative two-day tour with a guaranteed entrance via on-site purchase in Aguas Calientes, at no additional cost beyond what had already been paid. You also failed to provide pickup details or any of the basic information necessary to coordinate a tour of this nature. Without valid communication channels, it was impossible for us to assist you or confirm the service. You only contacted us one day before your scheduled tour, when it was already too late to activate a personalized service. Even then, we offered viable alternatives, including the guaranteed Machu Picchu visit through the in-person ticket purchase option, at no extra cost. We strive to provide solutions to all our passengers, but we also expect responsibility and commitment from those who book our services. We sincerely regret that you experienced this situation and trust that better communication in the future will help prevent this kind of inconvenience.
What a great agency we chose! The accompaniment, the selection of hotels, itinerary! But especially the accompaniment! He made our trip and tour the best, to Romulus thank you very much for your dedication time and delivery! Super advisable
Since I cannot directly respond to the company’s comment on my original review, I’m writing this in response to their blatant misrepresentation of the facts: Dear Romulo, We planned our trip for months, meaning booking flights, trips to other cities in Peru, etc. You emphasize that my booking to Machu Picchu was made 13 days in advance, but your company accepted the reservation despite knowing that tickets to Machu Picchu were already sold out. If availability was an issue, why was this not disclosed upfront before we committed to booking? Your willingness to accept the reservation while fully aware of the ticket situation suggests a lack of transparency. Additionally, two weeks was plenty of time for you to get in touch with me and alert me that the booking could not be fulfilled, yet there was radio silence from your end until the very last night before the tour. That’s negligent at best, and a blatant scam at worst. The so-called “solution” of waiting a full day in Cusco to attempt purchasing tickets through government offices was not a guaranteed option—it was a gamble. As you are undoubtedly aware, ticket availability is not assured even with this alternative, and presenting it as a viable “solution” also feels disingenuous. Your accusation that we “shouted and made threats” is a blatant misrepresentation of what happened. Expressing frustration at a ruined trip—particularly one involving international travel, plane tickets, and hotel stays—is not only natural but expected. We spoke on the phone and the only threat I made was that if the tour we had fully paid for was not fulfilled on your end, we would go to the Tourism Board in Cusco and accuse your company of false advertising – which we absolutely did! While I acknowledge that Viator processed the refund, this does not negate the inconvenience, financial burden, and stress caused by your company’s failure to deliver on its promises. A refund does not erase the costs of last-minute changes to our itinerary, nor does it address the associated costs of travel and hotels that were utterly wasted because of you. Shifting the blame to the customer for “unrealistic planning” is not the hallmark of a professional travel agency. If you cannot accommodate bookings, you should make this clear during the booking process instead of accepting reservations and later offering subpar alternatives. Your response reads more like an attempt to discredit my review than to take accountability or genuinely address the issues at hand. A professional response would focus on reflecting on how your company could improve, not on deflecting blame onto your customers. But from reading other customers’ reviews, it seems that this is standard practice from you.
While I got to see Machu Picchu, I did not get what I paid for. Tickets were not included with purchase like they say. I was never contacted and had to reach out to the tour one day before. They informed me the trip isn’t possible because tickets are sold out months ago. I told them I had already paid and the tour mentions inclusion of tickets. I was given the option of a two day, one night trip instead. Having gone all the way to Peru, I didn’t want to miss my trip and said yes. They also informed me I would have to pay for the hotel for my stay at Aguas Calientes. Keep in mind I already booked my hotel at Cusco since I signed up for the one day trip. They messed up my name on the bus ticket and we had to take a taxi to Ollantaytambo train station. Because of their mistake, by the time I ended up in line for ticket reservation, I was one of the last people and didn’t get the circuit I wanted. On the way back to Cusco, I called many times to confirm my bus ride from Ollantaytambo to Cusco. I was told someone would wait waving a sign with my name. When I got there, I found no one waiting and spent 30 mins in the dark, calling my tour operator. He finally answered and informed me that the driver misunderstood and thought it was a day later. He informed me to organize my own ride and that I would be refunded for the ride. The whole reason you pay for these tours is convenience. My transport wasn’t properly facilitated and I had to wait in line for tickets multiple times. This is a complete scam and misleading tour at best.
I can’t emphasize enough how deeply disappointed we were with 'Travel and Living Peru'. We had planned for months to visit Machu Picchu, booking plane tickets, hotel stays, and taking time off work—all of which was left in ruins when our tour guide abruptly canceled our tour the night before we were scheduled to go! Quite literally the night before, at 9:59pm when the pick-up was supposedly scheduled at 8:00am. This last-minute cancellation was not only incredibly unprofessional but showed a complete disregard for the time, effort, and money we invested in this trip. Their lack of communication and failure to offer any kind of genuine solution left us scrambling, and with Machu Picchu tickets sold out, we were left with no way to visit the very highlight of our trip. What’s worse, they were quick to take our money but utterly unhelpful in assisting us to navigate alternative options. For anyone considering using 'Travel and Living Peru', I’d strongly urge you to reconsider. Find a company that actually values their customers and respects the commitment that comes with international travel.
We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, but it is important to clarify some key points that were misrepresented in your review. First, your reservation was made only 13 days before the trip, which shows a clear lack of planning for such a popular destination as Machu Picchu. Tickets had already been sold out over 45 days before your reservation, a fact of which you were aware, yet you decided to proceed. We tell you that the only available option was a two-day itinerary: the first day to arrange ticket purchases and the second day for the visit. This is due to the Peruvian government issuing 1,000 tickets daily for those who present themselves at the government offices with a passport. This option was offered to you at no additional cost to accommodate your plans; however, you rejected this alternative and chose to shout and make threats rather than discuss options calmly. Regarding your claim that we were "quick to charge," it is essential to remember that this service was booked through Viator, and we only receive payment after the service has been completed. Moreover, Viator processed your full refund within less than 24 hours of cancellation, ensuring that you received your money promptly. Neither Viator nor we kept a single cent, as our cancellation policy allows for a full refund if the reservation is canceled at least 24 hours in advance. This policy reflects our commitment to customer service and was applied immediately to ensure a fair and transparent experience for you. As a responsible travel agency, we strongly encourage our clients to book well in advance for destinations as iconic as Machu Picchu. Booking only 13 days before a trip of this magnitude, especially when availability is limited, reflects a lack of foresight and unrealistic planning to visit one of the wonders of the world. Our commitment to client satisfaction is unwavering, as demonstrated by our willingness to cover additional costs to offer you the only feasible alternative. However, we cannot force clients to accept reasonable solutions if they choose to ignore our efforts and resort to threats. Finally, our 24-hour cancellation policy is designed to protect our clients and offer them flexibility, which was applied promptly in your case. We pride ourselves on providing transparent and quality service to all our clients, and we hope this clarification is helpful to those who read it. Sincerely Romulo
Perfect attention to our comfort throughout the trip; punctually attending to the travel schedule, according to our needs. Highly recommended!
I was unable to go due to the failure of viator to ensure both of their tour operators attended pick up. despite viator confirming both bookings.
Hi, Mr. Colin as I explain, we were very afraid about that, but as I told you, you heard in Cusco that there were no tickets to Machuopichu until 15 September and the only way to get the ticket was to spend one or two nights in Aguas Calientes, and even so you reserved through the Viator website one day before, you call us and we give many options but unlikely you don't have enough time to reschedule the tour to Macchupichu. to visit Machupicchu archeological site is needed to reserve at least 3 or 4 days in advance, not one day before¡¡¡
