La histórica mina de sal se encuentra a unos 10 km de Cracovia y figura en la primera Lista del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO (1978). La mina actual se estableció entre los siglos XVIII y XIX (aunque la historia de la minería llega a la antigüedad aquí). La ruta turística recorre los lugares más interesantes de la mina que consta de 22 cámaras que están conectadas por caminos de sal de unos 3 km de longitud. Las cámaras están ubicadas a una profundidad de 64 a 135 metros bajo tierra.

La mina de sal de Wieliczka desde el siglo XIII hasta 1772 fue parte de la salina de Cracovia. La sal extraída en la mina se remonta al período Mioceno. En 1976, la mía figuraba en el registro nacional polaco de monumentos, y luego en 1978 se inscribió en la lista de la UNESCO. La mina es un lugar visitado por grandes cantidades de turistas de Polonia y del extranjero.

Was told to meet greg at pick up point. Met a great guy whi was veey welcomming and knowledgeable about krakow. All in all a great tour of the Salt mines.

Greg provided our transfer to the salt mine and was accommodating from the get go. We misunderstood the pick up point and he contacted us straight away and came to us to avoid any delay to the other passenger. Leaving Krakow Greg provided lots of useful information which helped us book Schindlers factory also. We plan to go back and visit more next time! Courteous driver who accommodated a very anxious passenger. Great service provided and interacted with all passengers so everyone benefited. Would highly recommend!

He made some great suggestions about the best time of day to complete our tours, and arranged private transport to the salt mines. We visited the salt mines first thing in the morning after taking advice from Greg, our trip organiser. He collected us from our hotel, arranged the tickets and was waiting for us when we had finished. There were a lot of steps down, but you got breaks in between so it was manageable if you are older (like me)! A really enjoyable tour with a guide that explained each of the exhibitions fully. The underground church was amazing! You get a lift back to the surface and there is a lovely cafe and gift shop on site. I would highly recommend using Greg for the trip as his knowledge of the city is brilliant and he made sure that everything went smoothly for us. I wish I would have booked all of my trips with him!
