Although it was raining and cold - we did see whales and dolphins. The boat is gorgeous and we learn a lot.
excellent tour, saw humpback whales many times circling our boat
We travelled to the Amelia Rose by taxi from outside the cruise terminal, it cost 30 euros each way. The wet miserable weather did not spoil our excitement at the beautiful sight of humpback whales, minky whales and dolphins. We were just ven lucky enought to see a humpback with her calf close to the Amelia Rose. The yacht is a stunning sight to inside and out. The staff were amazing especially the young lady out doing all the spotting of the whales.
Plenty of room on multiple decks, very clear sound system, snack & bar with large area for sitting. We saw many whales, dolphins & puffins. There is a smoking area in the rear of the yacht luckily only one person smoked on the return.
I think we were unlucky as it was raining and cold and all we saw were dolphins, which we have seen better elsewhere. A fun or two were spotted but nothing to be able to say we had seen whales!
I originally booked a tour to go out on the larger "Amelia Rose" yacht with Harpa Yachts from Reykjavik. However, due to low passenger numbers, we were downgraded and moved onto their smaller boat, "Harpa". While downsizing is understandable, the way the captain handled this smaller vessel completely ruined the trip for me and violated ethical wildlife guidelines.Once two humpback whales were spotted, the driver continuously drove directly toward them instead of maintaining a respectful parallel distance. Every time the whales surfaced to breathe, the boat closed in tightly so that the loud, revving engine forced them into sudden, early dives to escape. Ultimately, our boat repeatedly sailed directly over the exact footprints where the whales had just submerged. Another vessel was nearby doing the exact same thing, creating a highly stressful environment for the animals.Slowing down slightly does not excuse cutting off a whale's path or driving right over them. I love marine life and researched carefully to support a responsible operator. I am deeply disappointed that animal welfare was disregarded for a close-up photo. I cannot recommend this company to ethical travelers. In the flip side. The guide (Anna) was lovely. Very helpful and hardworking
Nice experience if I come back to Iceland in the future I will definitely book again. Seen a lot of Whale and dolphins ( super )
Older boat. Good guide. Talked enough but not too much. Got to see whales up close. Dress for the weather it can get cold on the water. Enjoyed the trip.
Really an experience! We saw both whales and dolphins. Very nice guide and cozy boat. I'm glad we could go in when the wind was cold. Highly recommended!
The crew was very accommodating and friendly, we saw multiple whales and porpoises, waterfowl and beautiful scenery.
