Dear Customer Service Team, I am writing to formally complain about the extremely poor and disorganized service we experienced on the day we used your service in Toledo. Given the circumstances, I am requesting a full refund for the service we purchased. When we arrived in Toledo, the gentleman assisting us appeared visibly upset because we had already purchased our tickets online and, as a result, he was unable to sell us tickets himself. Eventually, he managed to process the information, but at no point did he provide us with any meaningful explanation about how the service worked, where we needed to go, how frequently the buses operated, or what we needed to do during our visit. We were simply told to get on the bus and take a seat. The situation became even more concerning once the bus departed. The driver drove in a manner that made us feel extremely unsafe. At the second stop, he did not wait to see whether passengers needed to get off before continuing. Several passengers, including us, were already standing on the stairs trying to exit when the bus began moving, forcing us to rush back to our seats to avoid falling. Additionally, while driving, the driver was speaking on the phone and telling someone that the bus's reverse gear was not working. Despite this, he continued operating the vehicle. This was deeply concerning and made us question the safety and reliability of the service. Because of these incidents, we decided to get off at the following stop, hoping that the next bus would have a different driver. We spoke with one of your representatives at the stop, who told us that the bus would return approximately every hour and a half and explained where we should wait. However, once again, the information provided was very limited and the overall organization was extremely poor. Later, after completing a walking tour, we asked one of your staff members where we needed to go to catch the bus. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide us with any useful information. Other passengers in the group eventually informed us that the bus was not operating because it had broken down and that we would have to wait until approximately 5:00 p.m. for another bus to be sent from Madrid. This created a serious problem for us because we had already purchased return train tickets to Madrid for 4:00 p.m. We were therefore forced to walk to the main road and then continue along the road until we found a hotel. The hotel staff had to explain to us how to arrange a taxi and how to get to the train station. As a result, we had no choice but to take a taxi and pay an additional $12.00 euros to reach the train station. This entire experience was unacceptable. From the initial interaction with your staff, to the lack of clear instructions, the unsafe driving, the apparent mechanical problem with the bus, the lack of communication, and the complete disorganization when the bus broke down, we received a level of service that fell far below what any customer should reasonably expect. We paid for a service that we were ultimately unable to use properly, and we incurred additional expenses and significant inconvenience as a direct result of the problems with your service. For these reasons, I am requesting a **full refund of the amount we paid for our tickets**. I also ask that you take this complaint seriously and investigate what occurred that day, particularly the conduct of the driver, the condition of the bus, and the lack of adequate assistance and information provided by your staff. This experience has completely undermined our confidence in your company, and unfortunately, we would never consider using your service again. I look forward to receiving confirmation that my refund will be processed and to hearing your response regarding this complaint. Sincerely, [Your Full Name] [Booking Number] [Date of Service]
We're very concerned to hear about the experience you described. The combination of unclear instructions, concerns regarding the driver's conduct, the reported mechanical issue, the breakdown of the service, and the lack of timely communication clearly had a significant impact on your visit to Toledo. We take matters relating to guest safety, service reliability, and staff conduct very seriously. To allow us to fully investigate the issues raised and review your request for a refund, please contact our Customer Service team with your booking reference and a copy of the details you've outlined here. You can reach our Madrid Customer Service team through the following page: https://www.bigbustours.com/en/madrid/contact-us Our team will review your case thoroughly, including the service disruption, the information provided by staff, and the additional expenses incurred as a result of the situation, and will work with you toward an appropriate resolution. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Alex@BigBusTours
The tour was very informative. Passengers got to see all the must-see places in Toledo. The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that the driver made several rest stops. One was for as long as one hour so that passengers could have lunch. Given the fact that a tour is supposed to be just that, a tour, I don't think such breaks are necessary, especially since average temperatures in July in Toledo are a scorching average of 90 degrees. Such stops only magnify the misery of passengers, but other than that, it was a generally very positive experience.
Hi Haakayoo_Z. We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback! It brings us great joy to know that you enjoyed our bus tour, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard again in the future. Best regards, Razvan @BigBusTours
I purchased the Toledo Big Bus ticket and tourist band. The bus driver only gave me a Bus ticket. When I enquired after the wristband he grunted at me and indicated I move along. I asked is the tourist band on the bus ticket he said si and then waved me on. When we left the bus at point 7 to do the monastery and synagogue I was told the bus ticket did not get me in and neither the QR code from my booking to had to pay again. I messaged the company as directed by the website but no response. The hop on off I would say isn’t worth the money as once you’re off you either wait an hour for the next bus or simply walk to the next destination. The actual trip around the outside of the city however is good and would recommend the cheaper ticket and just do that
Great tour but very loud and disturbing due to the live commentary in Spanish
Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour overall, but we’re sorry to learn that the live Spanish commentary impacted your experience. We understand how important it is for all guests to comfortably enjoy the tour, and we regret that the volume or delivery was disruptive for you. Your comments are very valuable, and we will share them with our local team to review how we can better balance live commentary so that it enhances the experience for everyone on board. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to provide a more comfortable experience in the future. Flavius@BigBusTours
We purchased 48 hop on and hop off bus with monument bracelet. The big bus was easy to find outside the train station in Toledo. Checking in was easy except they do not give you the bracelets immediately. They need to call the main office in Madrid and then they will send you your code thru WhatsApp. We waited approximately an hour to receive the redemption code. The busses ran about 30 minutes and the stops were easily found throughout the town.
Hello! Thank you for purchasing our hop on and hop off bus with monument bracelet. We apologize for any inconvenience with the redemption code, but we're glad you were able to easily find the busses and stops around town. We appreciate your feedback and hope you had a great experience in Toledo! Razvan@BigBusTours
With its three routes on a single ticket and the possibility to get on and off unlimitedly during its validity, it is a good way to explore the city. The staff was very attentive. The vehicle has Wi-Fi and provides headphones for the audio guides, which are available in several languages. Tip: it is advisable to buy tickets online as they are a bit cheaper than at physical locations.
Expectations are important. Despite the brochure listing 30+ sights, the route visited almost none of them - most of the route was on the road encircling the city, there was only one stop inside the city gates. The bus was just too big to travel inside the city. As a result, the "hop on, hop off" feature is next to useless. Plus, it only stops hourly, so if you get off you will wait an hour to next one. That said, the drive around the city was very scenic and enjoyable -- the best use of this IMO is buy the one hour tour and use it in the afternoon when it is hot and you want a break from walking. Do book directly with the company though. Viator is close to a scam - all they do is buy up all the search results so that they are top of the page, then mark it up 20% for no added value at all. There's a bunch of other similar companies also, not just viator. Scroll down the page and make sure you're buying from the company itself. I paid 39 euros for a tour that the company sells for 30.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the route and frequency did not fully meet your expectations for hop‑on hop‑off sightseeing, and we appreciate your honest perspective on how the tour works best in practice. We’re pleased to know you still found the drive scenic and enjoyable, particularly as a relaxing way to see the city during warmer hours. Your comments regarding route access, stop frequency, and booking channels are valuable and have been shared with our team as we continue to refine our offerings and communications. Ciprian @ Big Bus Tours
The options for hopping off weren't really there. Wish they gave opportunities to get off at the bridges for photos or in other locations. That said, it was a good way to see the whole city and the options for what to do. The walking tour that came with it was great and we paid extra for the cathedral tour which was also worthwhile.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts regarding the hop‑off opportunities and understand your wish for more photo stops at locations such as the bridges. We’re pleased to hear that you still enjoyed seeing the city overall and found the included walking tour and the cathedral tour worthwhile. Your comments help us continue to refine the experience, and we’re glad Big Bus Tours played a part in your visit. Ciprian @ Big Bus Tours
The walking tour parts were great but the bus part was a little disorganized. Highly recommend the cathedral tour. I wish the bus would have stopped at the old bridges and the dam for pictures etc. It just seemed like there weren't a lot of places to get in and off.
Hi Diane_b. We wish to thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that the tour felt a bit disorganized. We can assure you we are actively working on enhancing communication and training, so you can get only the best experience. We hope to have you back soon. Best, Vlad from Big Bus Tours.
Bus driver very friendly and helpful. I’m in a wheelchair and he was extremely nice. The views around the city were impressive
