El casco antiguo de Toledo fue declarado por la UNESCO como Ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad desde 1986. En nuestro recorrido, caminaremos por calles y plazas llenas de historia, demostrando la riqueza y el esplendor de la antigua capital de España, la ciudad comúnmente conocida como "La ciudad de las tres culturas"
Los documentos escritos más antiguos que tenemos de judíos en Toledo son del siglo IV, en época romana, aunque es posible que se establecieran en la ciudad antes. En nuestro recorrido caminaremos por las estrechas calles de la antigua judería, visitando los principales monumentos y restos arqueológicos subterráneos que hicieron de esta judería una de las más importantes de Europa.
La Sinagoga El Tránsito, también conocida como la Sinagoga de Samuel Leví, fue construida después de que el tesorero del Rey Pedro I ordenó su construcción en 1355. Aunque la construcción de nuevas sinagogas no estaba permitida en ese momento, aprobar su construcción fue la forma de agradecer del Rey Pedro I la comunidad judía por apoyarlo en la guerra contra su hermano Enrique de Trastámara. Dentro de la sinagoga, podemos admirar la increíble sala de oración decorada con yeserías y el Museo Nacional de Cultura Sefardí.
La Sinagoga de Santa María la Blanca, fue una de las once sinagogas que permanecieron en Toledo hasta finales del siglo XIV. Este es uno de los más antiguos de Europa y se construyó a finales del siglo XII o principios del siglo XIII en estilo mudéjar. El estilo oriental también se puede apreciar en la sobriedad de la decoración exterior, que es todo lo contrario del hermoso adorno que se encuentra en su interior.

I try to take a Jewish heritage tour in every city I can around the world and Toledo was no exception. Irene was brilliant in her knowledge and expertise, giving me questions to answer and me asking her questions back. I learned so much about not only Toledo and the history of Toledo and how it pertained to the Jewish people. A wonderful experience

This tour was amazing. Sonia was our tour guide and met us at the train station on Toledo and pre arranged a taxi to see the views. She walked us through the Jewish quarter explaining the history of Toledo taking us into the two synogauges, and the cathedral. She was very friendly and informed. Overall we enjoyed and would recommend!

The tour was very meaningful and a tremendous educational experience. Javi, our tour guide, was amazing. He is local to Toledo. His knowledge of the subject matter and history was outstanding. He was able to make the tour very enjoyable and informative for all of us, including my teenage children. This was a private tour, so it was just the five of us with Javi. We did this tour as part of a half-day trip from Madrid, but you can easily spend many more hours to learn more about the rest of the old city. This tour was easily the highlight of our entire trip to Spain. Toledo has an amazing history, and our guide was outstanding! This was an overall moving experience.
