Fly towards and over the top of the Freycinet Peninsula on Tasmania’s East Coast. Freycinet National Park is one of Tasmania’s very first National Parks (est. 1916) and is home to dramatic pink granite mountains, secluded bays, crystal clear waters and pristine white beaches.
Freycinet is home to Tasmania’s and arguably Australia’s most iconic white sands beach – Wineglass Bay, the aerial view of this sight is something truly spectacular and an unforgettable. From the Freycinet Peninsula, we fly over the seal colony of Ile Des Phoques, then we continue our scenic flight towards our destination, Maria Island.
Here we’ll land and set off on an exploration of the island national park. Maria Island’s pristine untouched beaches, the crystal clear waters of the surrounding marine reserve and scenery like the magnificent Mt Maria and Bishop and Clerk peaks will take your breath away. Wander through forests of magnificent blue and white gums, some of them over 400 years old. You’ll step back in time and walk where convicts and explorers have walked before you. At the Fossils Cliffs you’ll see shellfish fossil beds unlike any other in the world. Maria Island is also famous for its abundance of wildlife being home to rare and endangered species like the Swift Parrot and Cape Barron Goose, Wombats, Kangaroos and of course, the Tasmanian Devil. It’s difficult to describe the beauty of Maria Island, you really have to see it to believe it.
As you interact with the Maria Island’s local wildlife and take in the spectacular scenery your guide will prepare a bountiful Tasmanian picnic looking over the Northern end of the majestic national park, this feast is full of some of Tasmania’s finest offerings, consisting of fresh Oysters, Mussels, Salmon, Mackerel, Scallops, Octopus, all locally sourced from Tasmanian’s beautiful and clean waterways, this seafood smorgusboard is accompanied with paired Tasmanian premium white wine. Please note, if seafood isn’t your liking that’s not a problem at all, just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll happy source a beautiful mix of different Tasmanian produce.

Our pilot and guide Michael is a great guy. Truely a wonderful experience flying over wineglass bay and then a short exploration on Maria Island.
We have done heaps of scenic flights but this particular trip absolutely tops our list! Best day ever - Pat was so helpful and informative and then to top it off with the wineglass bay tour just made our day. Couldn’t recommend enough and value for money was amazing!!

Extraordinary excursion! Our pilot, Michael, was very informative, professional, and provided an amazing flight. He gave details to areas we flew over, history, and other tidbits. The landing on Maria Island was smooth! Surrounded by wallaby, kangaroo, and even a wombat. Lunch was provided and exceeded our expectations. This is a MUST do of you are travelling to Hobart. Beautiful views and amazing wildlife!

We had a lovely flight, where the pilot described what we were seeing, then landed on Maria Island for a good portion of time. We are visiting from the USA and had limited time, so this was a great way for us to see some things we wouldn’t have had time for otherwise. The picnic lunch was great and they even accommodated our request for something besides seafood.
What an amazing experience! The views from the flight were stunning. We didn’t realize how beautiful the Freycinet peninsula and Wineglass Bay area is until we saw it from the air. Our pilot Jonah gave great informative commentary during the flight. Maria island was a beautiful lunch site next to the water. Jonah laid out a picnic blanket, but we found a lovely little patch of greenery that was the perfect place to enjoy lunch. We saw kangaroos, a large wombat, geese and magpies. It was a lovely place. All seats on the plane had great views, and Jonah switched everyone for the return flight to keep it fair. We got the back seats for the trip out to the island, and they turned out to be best for photos. The visual from the front is a bit better, but the props (which you don’t see with the naked eye) got in a number of our pics. Kudos to Jonah for letting everyone experience different views. Although there are longer air tours to different parts of Taz, we thought this one was perfect because it was easy and yet we still saw plenty of beautiful scenery.
This was a great tour. The staff was very friendly. It was a great way to see and do a lot in Tasmania in just a few hours. We would have enjoyed a bit more time in Maria Island to explore the wildlife.
Absolutely loved it! Booked this tour for myself and Husband to do on my birthday, and it was the best birthday! We were the only ones to book, so we basically had a private tour, with an amazing pilot and incredible views. Our pilot was friendly and knowledgeable, he shared some great stories and made sure we had a great time. We saw seals from the sky, and a wombat on the island. Definitely recommend it!
