This is the tour to take if you want a truly in-depth look at Pompei (and why wouldn't you?). Our guide, Leonardo, is a professional archaeologist and gave us the backstory to everything we saw. He knew the best spots in this vast, ruined city and took us right to them, pointing out details that we wouldn't have noticed or understood. It was amusing to see other visitors edging towards us to glean Leonardo's wisdom. I highly recommend this experience.
My partner and I took a 4 hour guided tour with Italo. He is superbly knowledgeable about Pompeii and able to put the sights into a historical context. We wanted to stay longer after the tour and he had excellent suggestions for where to guide ourselves to. The private tour is well worth it for the tailored experience and the ability to navigate around bigger groups.
I was looking for a longer guided tour than the 2h offers, not easy to find, and with this 4h Anna tour we were able to enjoy so many interesting and beautiful places of Pompei. She captured the attention of the children who came out in awe. Visits that offer Pompei and Herculaneum in one day will make you miss the immense beauty of both sites. If you can extend and spread over two days, and you are passionate about archaeology, this tour is for you. Thank you, Anna!
Lelo was amazing! This was simply the best tour we have ever had and we have had many through Italy to date. Lelo’s obviously is a super top tier accomplished archeologist as everyone knew him throughout the park. Lelo’s English was amazing and his ability to keep our interest was quite frankly amazing. This was so worth the cost ten fold!! My 14 year old son and I were on the 4 hour tour with Lelo and it felt like 30 minutes as we were enamored with the stories, facts, and amazing sites.
Our guide Laylo was amazing! Very knowledgeable and able to get us to the front of every line! The 4 hours flew by! He was able to get us a table at the Russo family vineyard following the tour which was a perfect end to a great day! Thank you
4 hours was a good amount of time to see the main sights. Take a bottle of water with you. It is worth looking round the little museum at the end. Our guide, Roberta, was very friendly and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour. I don’t think she was an archaeologist though which is what was advertised.
Raphael was an amazing guide, blending humor and warmth with a tremendous amount of knowledge about the history of this ancient place. He kept us enthralled for 4 hours, with his obvious passion and expertise. I would have no hesitation recommending this tour!
Our guide Italio , was so informative with information I felt like had just taken a 6 month class on Pompeii by the end of it. No waiting in lines. No worries. I would definitely recommend a small private tour over a large group. Well worth the coin spent. His informative facts allowed me to imagine being in Pompeii during that time. I know that if I had toured by myself that it would not even been half of the experience.
There was a mix-up with my tour and I had no tour guide to meet me. Luckily Italo, another guide from Raphael Tours, warmly welcomed me into the private tour he was leading and continued with me when their 2 hour tour was finished. Italo was everything I could have asked for in a guide - considerate, incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating, able answer all of my in-depth questions and provide insightful information into the ruins and the history. Despite the rough beginnings - which is the reason I removed one start - the tour turned out to be everything I wanted it to be. Bravo and Grazie Mille, Italo! A tour of a lifetime.
A dream stay, staying in a family apartment, we toured beautiful places, eating delicious, enjoying nature in full, and living harmoniously and in an enviable peace
