Our guides will share their favorite stories about the museum’s best and quirkiest pieces. For those who aren’t familiar with Dutch culture, you will explore its rich and vibrant past through a selection of paintings and artifacts from the 8000 objects on display. You’ll explore familiar names like Rembrandt while discussing lesser known items like 17th century dollhouses and Vermeer’s portrait of domesticity, “The Milkmaid.” There’s even a fascinating 19th century library containing more stories than you could ever tell.
You’ve heard about one of the world’s most famous painters, Vincent Van Gogh. But what do you really know about this Dutch artist? After a break for lunch, enter the Van Gogh Museum to meet the man behind the famous sunflowers and self-portraits that feature in galleries around the world. See his work “The Potato Eaters” and “The Bedroom” as well as objects from his studio. Visit the world’s largest collection of Van Gogh’s works while learning about his troubled life from his days in Holland to his dramatic ending in France. Book this excellent tour with Anna asap! Anna was the most amazing, interesting tour guide! Weaved tidbits of trivia in with the larger general information on the artists, art, techniques, and life at the time the art was created! So fascinating! Tour could have lasted for days but packed a lot into one day!
Our guide Jacopo was very, very good. He intertwined the art with the history involved in a way that was understandable and interesting. Would recommend him.
Our tour with Anna N was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and shared her awareness on how to interpret the artwork of various era’s in the Rijksmuseum and then gain some insight as to the brilliance of Van Gogh’s ability to paint distance perspective on canvas, along with the interesting journey his life took. Our time at the Rijksmuseum was about 3 hours and then about 2.5 hours at the Van Gogh museum with about a 30 minute break in between to grab a quick lunch. It was a long day and if we were to see these two museums again, we would do each on separate days. But definitely ask to be on Anna N’s tour!
Excellent tours with an incredible guide. Cecile was extremely knowledgeable and had extra visual aides to help with the tour. Learned a lot from her got a new perspective on the history of the art
Great museums and excellent overview and tours with Cecile.
Anita L was very knowledgeable and imparted a lot of information we would not otherwise have known. Highly recommend
Anna gave outstanding background and stories in both museums. Her passion for creative thinking really engaged my wife and 25 yr old daughter Highly worth it as she also sent timely texts with meeting link to make it easy to find her.
We were given details we would not have known otherwise. Our guide was great, she was really knowledgeable.
Fleur was a knowledgeable and personable guide. Provided a nice focus for such a large collection.
Anne was a wonderful tour guide for the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh. She provided an excellent amount of information and made sure we saw all the important masterpieces and even some from the less famous artists. She made the museums so interesting and fun! The morning half of the tour was basically a private tour and the afternoon portion a few people joined us but Anne managed us and our time beautifully. Her tour is a MUST if you don’t have days to explore the museums! Highly recommend!!
