Ek Balam is a Yucatec Maya name that translates to “bright star jaguar”. Ek Balam’s most important cultural period was during the Late Classic Period 700 – 1000 A.D It is the architecture and design of , “The Tower”, and the decoration of Ek Balam’s Builders and artists that used stucco and limestone mortar that makes it so special, spectacular and unique a pliable material that could be modeled into distinct forms and painted over. Now is time to refresh in amazing fresh water cenote. Important Note- The remaining (Hours) will be allotted for the travel time from pick up until drop off.
We will start our tour visiting the market of the beautiful colonial city of Valladolid. We will walk among the stalls full of colors and aromas of their vegetables and fruits, you will interact with local people, you will see a little of their daily life. Afterwards we will make a panoramic tour of the historic center of this amazing colonial city and we will continue our adventure to the incredible archaeological zone of Ek balam. Was ok. No breakfast despite listed as being included. Approx 45 mins only in Valladolid, not 2 hours as advertised. Were taken to a market selling mainly meat and fruit which was interesting but probably not the best vendors for tourists.
