With its giant red lantern, the lively Nakamise shopping street, and traditional atmosphere, Asakusa offers a timeless glimpse into old Tokyo. It’s the perfect place to enjoy culture, street food, and iconic photo spots.
The Sumida River offers a peaceful break from Tokyo’s busy streets, with wide riverside paths, scenic bridges, and views of the Tokyo Skytree. It’s a beautiful area for a relaxing walk, quiet photos, and watching boats glide along the water. The contrast between the calm river and the surrounding city makes it a refreshing stop during your Tokyo exploration.
Ameyoko is a lively open-air market stretching along the railway tracks between Ueno and Okachimachi. Packed with street food, local shops, spices, seafood, snacks, and bargain clothing, it captures the energetic “local Tokyo” vibe. A perfect place to explore daily life and try new flavors.
Ueno Park is one of Tokyo’s most historic and atmospheric public parks, offering a quieter side of the city with hidden temples, traditional pathways, and a local atmosphere away from the modern districts. Along the walk, we may visit Kiyomizu Kannon-do, Gojo Tenjin Shrine, and Hanazono Inari Shrine — small historic sites tucked inside the park that many visitors completely miss.
A short walk at the Shinobazu Pond — once a favorite spot for couples in the Edo period, today still peaceful, home to lotus, koi fish, turtles, and migratory birds throughout the year.
Meiji Jingu is one of Tokyo’s most important and peaceful Shinto shrines, surrounded by a large forest that creates a quiet escape from the city. Visitors walk through towering wooden torii gates and shaded paths before reaching the main shrine, where traditional rituals and serene architecture offer a timeless look into Japanese spirituality. It’s a calming, beautiful stop for culture and nature lovers alike.
Takeshita Street is the heart of Harajuku’s youth culture, famous for its colorful fashion boutiques, kawaii shops, creative snacks, and unique pop culture energy. The narrow street is always lively, packed with trendy clothing stores, crepe stands, and fun photo spots. It’s a must-visit area for anyone wanting to experience Harajuku’s playful and iconic style.
Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s most iconic districts, famous for Shibuya Scramble Crossing the busiest crossing in the world, neon lights, modern shopping malls, and a vibrant nightlife scene. It blends youthful energy with stylish urban culture, featuring landmarks like the Hachikō Statue — a beloved meeting point — and Miyashita Park, a trendy complex with rooftop greenery, cafés, boutiques, and great photo spots. Shibuya is the perfect destination for shopping, nightlife, and modern city exploration.
Stop at the iconic Godzilla Head, right in the heart of Tokyo’s nightlife district. Don’t miss the giant 3D cat billboard, a modern symbol of Shinjuku’s playful spirit, and explore Golden Gai — a maze of tiny bars each with its own unique charm. Then Up to the 45th-floor observatory for stunning city views — and Mt. Fuji on clear days. Optional: the Ninja Kabuki Tokyo show on demand.

From sushi and grilled skewers to local specialties, it offers a true taste of Tokyo’s culinary culture. A perfect stop to explore, taste, and experience the city through its flavors.
(Optional stop — tailored to your interests) Visit to Akihabara — also known as “Electric Town,” is the heart of Tokyo’s otaku culture. The area is filled with anime shops, retro game stores, multi-level arcades, and major electronics retailers. With its bright neon signs, cosplay energy, and themed cafés, Akihabara offers a fun and immersive dive into modern Japanese pop culture.
(Optional stop — tailored to your interests) Visit Kappabashi, Tokyo’s famous kitchenware district, located between Asakusa and Ueno. A unique stop that offers insight into Japanese food culture and everyday craftsmanship, perfect for those interested in cooking, design, or local shopping.

The tour was absolutely amazing!! Definitely worth the money. It was so good in fact that I booked another day. Our guide met us at our hotel, taught us how to navigate the subway system. It is relatively easy once you get the hang of it, but as a newb in Tokyo it was intimidating. Because it was a private tour, we got to see everything we wanted to. We learned of the history and partook in some of the rituals. Our guide took us to the shopping district in Shinjuku where we bought kimonos and even the department stores to buy clothes. We are huge anime fans and he took us to a 7 floor anime store. Where you can buy anything you can imagine. Our poor guide was kind enough to carry our bags. Seba, our guide, was absolutely amazing!! He has make our trip incredible and we have been able to see everything we wanted to more efficiently as well as getting to take part in things we would have no idea, how to get a fortune of luck, talisman, and making a wish and the ritual of washing before entering the temple. He was so good I booked another day!!
Thank you so much! We’re delighted that Sebastien made your private Tokyo tour so memorable and helped you experience the city, its culture, temples, shopping, and anime spots. It was a pleasure welcoming you again for a second round! :)
Amazing private tour of Tokyo! We visited a great mix of famous sights and more local areas, with lots of interesting stories about Japanese culture and everyday life. Everything felt relaxed, personal, and never rushed. A perfect way to discover the real Tokyo with a knowledgeable local guide. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private walking tour in Tokyo!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a real pleasure showing you both Tokyo’s famous landmarks and the more authentic local side of the city. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the Japanese culture, everyday-life stories, and relaxed pace of your private walking tour. I hope your time in Tokyo created many unforgettable memories!
This was a wonderful way to see several noteworthy sites in Tokyo. Renaud really knew his way around the city and the sites. He was also terrific at taking photos. We ate at a wonderful market that Renaud led us to and again at a very nice cafe. We recommend this tour and Renaud as a guide.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It was a real pleasure showing you the real Tokyo and spending such a great time together. I’m really glad you enjoyed the tour, and I hope to see you again on your next visit!
Our tour operator and guide was Sam and he was absolutely excellent. From the moment he met us at the hotel to the moment he dropped us off. He didn’t leave our side. The knowledge of Japan, the cuisine places to shop items to eat that were specific to Japan made the experience so unique and very memorable if I wanted to go off script, he knew exactly where to go and what to do. There were some special moments along the way where my sister and I just giggled like we where 13 years old again because of the great memories and historic facts that he had to share about Japan. I would strongly recommend using Sam and this company for all of your travel needs if you’re ever in Tokyo.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We’re really happy to hear you had such a great time with Sam and that he made your Tokyo experience so memorable. 😊 We hope to see you again on your next trip to Tokyo! 🇯🇵✨
A lovely, personal tour of Tokyo. Even better that Sam met us at our hotel. We visited so many beautiful and amazing places, Sam gave us loads of information about each place and gave us plenty of time to explore, pop into shops, experience the ambience and more. We saw the historic and the modern parts and learned so much about japanese culture. Every metro/train trip took us to a completely different part of the city, increasing the wow factor. We loved the Meiji Jingu temple and couldnt believe we were still in a capital city, it was so green and tranquil. We experienced a true sushi bar, melon cake and more. These comments only touch on what was such a magical journey through Tokyo. Thank you, Sam.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! 😊 We’re very happy you enjoyed discovering so many different sides of Tokyo with Sam. We’ll make sure to pass your kind words on to him. Hope to welcome you back to Japan again! 🇯🇵
Excellent day with Renaud, our French guide, who knew how to help us discover the riches of Tokyo while going off the beaten path to discover a few small spots without tourists.
Merci beaucoup pour votre superbe retour ! 😊 J’ai été ravi de vous faire découvrir Tokyo, entre incontournables et petits coins plus secrets. Au plaisir de vous revoir au Japon ! 🇯🇵
Very beautiful day. The magnificent weather as well as our guide Renaud allowed us to have a very good time in Tokyo. Visits to temples, parks, and the city with some very nice spots known to our guide. A lot of information about life in the capital but also (and above all) a lot of help on how to have a very beautiful stay in Japan. My son and I were delighted with the day. We recommend Renaud 1000 times and a little tip: taking advantage of having a (French-speaking) guide as soon as you arrive on Japanese soil helps enormously! Just BRILLIANT Thanks again to Renaud

Yoshi was an incredible tour guide! He made everything so easy 🤩🤩I was able to comfortably share what I wanted to see and ask for recommendations, and he helped build the absolute best itinerary for the trip. We visited so many amazing places, and he made sure to take me to the best spots in Akihabara for all the Otaku sites and shops, which was the most important highlight for me. Thank you so much, Yoshi! 🙏🏽❤️

Getting to know Japan with someone who truly loves what they do made a big difference in my trip with my partner; we were newlyweds on our honeymoon. From the first moment, he made me feel comfortable and was always attentive to every detail. Not only did he take us to incredible places, but he also shared stories and curiosities that made each site have a special meaning. His passion for helping people live an authentic experience is evident. More than a guide, he was someone who made the trip much more special. I recommend him with total confidence to anyone who wants to get to know Japan in a different way and take home unforgettable memories. Thank you so much for everything! An awesome guide, the best of the best.
