Snowmobile tour on Vatnajökull

Joining this subarctic adventure and driving a snowmobile over Europe’s biggest glacier, will be one of the most exciting experiences you will ever participate in. Along with an exciting adventure, you will also experience an unbelievable view over the glacier. About halfway through the tour, we’ll stop and you can take pictures and peacefully enjoy the scenery. Our guides are informative and entertaining and will tell you facts about the area and the glacier. A valid driver’s license is required to operate the snowmobile. Participants combined weight on one snowmobile MUST be 180kg / 390lbs or less. If your combined weight exceeds 180kg / 390lbs you need to book single snowmobiles. The standard version of our snowmobile tour has two persons riding on one snowmobile. However, if you are travelling solo or in an odd number group 1, 3, 5, etc., you need to book at least one solo rider. Additional cost for 1 x solo rider is 10.000 ISK - paid at the base camp

You will sit and enjoy while our driver takes you to about 1000 meters up in the mountains where the view over Iceland’s highest peaks will take your breath away, all awhile we are driving on Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe.
Join us for a sensational snowmobile journey on Vatnajökull glacier, feel your adrenaline rise as you power up a snowmobile and explore the secret trails of the great ice wilderness in Europe. Iceland´s highest peaks and some great volcanoes are shrouded beneath this icecap - creating scenery that is totally epic.
Our experienced guide shares a wealth of fascinating information during the tour about the glaciers and the icefields and their impact on our environment while he takes you back down to Base Camp.

Amazing experience from gear fitting and instruction thru the amazing drive up the mountain in their Super 4x4’s to an amazing time on the glacier. Very professional and safety focused while experiencing every aspect of the park along the way including reindeer spotting and nature talks.
The whole experience was so cool. The tour guide was amazing- he was funny, charismatic, and knowledgeable. Everyone was very nice from the beginning to the end. They had all the equipment you need (bring gloves and sunglasses). It was everyone’s favorite item we did on our trip.

Had such an incredible experience snowmobiling on top of the glacier. It was a special adventure. Our guide Kari was excellent, relaxed and safe. To travel from sea level to on top of a glacier with thick snow in 35 minutes after an incredible drive was mind-blowing. Such a rush snowmobiling - highlty recommend. Easy booking experience, they had all the gear!

Our snowmobiling adventure was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a beautiful day and apparently the first good day on the top of the glacier for this tour. The 40 minute ride up in the super truck was an amazing addition to the adventure. We enjoyed the views and also spotted some reindeer. The snowmobiles were top notch and instructions were clear and made the equipment easy to use. It has been years since my last snowmobiling adventure and it took no time to get back into the swing. The time on the glacier was amazing. The snow was fresh overnight which was perfect. We made a few stops and the views were stunning. The guide was great and provided information on the glacier, the area and life growing up in Iceland. I did learn one thing…. Snowmobiling is a bit different than ATV riding. ATVs you steer, Snowmobiles… you suggest where you want them to go and they may or may not decide to follow your wishes. A fun and exciting day. We enjoyed it immensely and would highly recommended it.

It was raining and visibility was near zero. The operator suggested we change our tour time to get greater visibility. We disrupted our entire schedule for the day, missing some amazing stops along the way from Vik, and visibility was still terrible. The operator should have canceled, though they were only interested in collecting their $1100 in fees. Highly disappointed. Would not recommend.

We completely understand how disappointing that can be, especially when you have been looking forward to such an experience. Because the weather was poor, we suggested changing the departure time in the hope that conditions would improve. Unfortunately, Icelandic weather can change quickly, but on this occasion it did not. We sincerely regret that this affected your day. We would also like to gently point out that Iceland is located in the North Atlantic, not the Mediterranean. While we always do our very best to provide a memorable experience, the weather is one thing that no tour operator can control. So fun, even in white-out, snowy conditions. My children (12yo, 14yo) considered it a top experience on our Ring Road trip.

We essentially had a private trip with MIKE on top of the ice field and it was a super fun experience. Had a nice and educational morning. The guide took all the time to explain everything calmly and clearly. The ride with the special big-wheel bus up was more challenging than expected. The weather also cooperated enormously.

I was traveling in Iceland with my son, what an amazing experience! They took charge at our arrival, no time wasting it was well planned. We drove up the mountain with a monster truck, we felt safe as the driver was experienced (sorry I don't remember the guide's name!). Same with the snowmobile, the guide was calm, confident and gave us clear instructions. We didn't feel cold, the equipment was perfect. We have snowmobiles at home, we can tell that their machines were new and well maintained. I would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for that memorable day!
