Itinerary
Here, we will have an introduction to Amsterdam. How the Amsterdam we see today evolve from a fishing village 750 years ago.
A walk through medievil Amsterdam all the while covering all the amazing changes over the centuries.
We will see all the iconic Amsterdam canals and you will discover how they were built. The 17th Century was full of change for Amsterdam and we will look at all the major events that made Amsterdam the most important city in the world.
When the tour goes to the Jordaan, you will see this lovely part of Amsterdam. It used to be the area that housed the people who built the 1600's canal expansion. Now it is 'the village' part of Amsterdam. Lots of quiet streets and lovely places to eat or have a drink.
We will look at old Amsterdam as we go from the Waag to Dam Square. There is lots of history and stories to be had here.
One of the oldest hofjes in Amsterdam. It was originally used to house lay women who had not taken their vows to become nuns. A set of beautiful houses and a English Reformed chuch from 1607 and a Catholic chapel. A stunning piece of Amsterdam history.

David truly made Amsterdam come alive for us! He is so knowledgeable, personable, enthusiastic and has a great love of storytelling and history sharing!! We had five different tour guides on our trip to Amsterdam and London and David was by far the best —- tremendous value and enjoyment. Plus, he allowed flexibility— when the group was going to enter a church, I saw a pop up art show and wanted to attend and he made it easy for me to split off and do my thing. I can’t speak highly enough about David and am recommending him to friends/family going to Amsterdam. I also opted to purchase his fabulous photo book of Amsterdam - it’s really his love 💕 story to his adopted city.
Thank you very much for your kind words! It was so great to have you on the tour!
Three couples visited Amsterdam for the first time. I looked at David’s reviews and decided to book a 4 hour walking tour with him. We weren’t disappointed! David was full of knowledge, jokes and we stopped a few times to sample local delicacies, which was a nice break as well. I’d definitely recommend David for a future tour. We had a wonderful time with him!
Thank you so much for this lovely review. I am happy you enjoyed the tour!
Wow, what a great experience ! I have been to Amsterdam many times and wanted to do a walking tour. Kept seeing posts from this group and decided it seemed interesting. Booked direct. Great price, unique stops and lots of fun facts. Highly recommend.
So nice to read! Thanks for joining my tour!
He showed us many interesting places, and pointed out the best places to eat. He adapted the tour to our slower pace as my 77 year old mother was with us. He brought in a lot of history, and had a great sense of humor.
Many thanks for the review. I am happy you all enjoyed the walk!
This was the best tour! Dave was educational, clearly a history buff, funny, and so interestingly detailed that he captured our attention. We learned so much about Amsterdam and he made it fascinating. We also learned about the best places to eat, get cookies, French fries and tiny puff pancakes, which we ended up sampling after our tour. So good. I highly recommend Dave as a tour guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him.
Thank you, Cheryl. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the tour as much as I did, meeting you!
the guide was passionate about his love for the city and tailored the tour to the needs of the group. He knows so much about this history, architecture and art and that came across in all he shared. he presented the information in a fun and lively way as well. I'd highly recommend

This is a must do! Tour was very informative, fun, and just overall extremely well done. The tour guide did a fantastic job and he really gave everything so much thought! We had my young daughter with us and he made sure to include her as well. Can’t say enough good things about this tour!
Thank you! It was great to meet your lovely family!
Very educational walking tour at a comfortable pace. Dave is an enthusiastic guide with a natural curiosity that has given him the skills to be an excellent guide.
Many thanks Howard! Glad you enjoyed the tour!
Friendly guide, knowledgeable, showed us city highlights and shared his experiences as a local. Enjoy!
Thank you. I am happy you enjoyed it!
We loved David's take on the flavor, culture and vibrancy of Amsterdam! He shared his knowledge as well on the history and strength of this growing city! He shared an amazing education on the history and development of Amsterdam, as part of Holland and the Netherlands! He is friendly, smart, and such an inspiration as to life here. Take your tour with David!
