The original Globe existed a short two blocks away from Sam Wanamaker's wonderful replica. Your guide will take you to the original site as well as escort you into the Globe where you will enjoy the official in-house tour of the Globe. Fascinating!
This is a life-size model of the original Golden Hinde that Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world in 1577. He was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth who was both Drake's and Shakespeare's queen.
Our tour takes place in what Londoners call SOUTH BANK. In Shakespeare's time this was the " Las Vegas " of London where activities such as bull-baiting and theatre could legally take place, unlike in the CITY of London on the other side of the Thames, where the puritan city fathers considered theatre to be the " work of the devil".
The ruins are here and it was the Bishop of Winchester who was the owner of all the land on South Bank at the time, including the pubs, the brothels and the theatres as well.
Will Shakespeare and his brother Edmond ( who is buried here ) both would have worshipped here. Today, the Cathedral has a very active Church of England congregation and is where many community concerts, etc. take place. Your guide will how you the Harvard University chapel as well as the beautiful Shakespeare stained-glass window.
Our guide will take you into London's famous Borough Market, which goes back to Elizabethan times and is a place that Shakespeare would undoubtedly have been familiar with, as for may years he lived in the area. Today, you will find everything from gourmet coffee to organic vegetables to tasty takeaways.

What a wonderful morning! Lesley gave us a absolutely customized tour. As theatre lovers, we walked in Shakespeare's footsteps, including stops for snacks! The tour culminated with a tour of The Globe. I would highly recommend!
The Shakespeare Walking Tour in London offers a fascinating journey through the playwright's life, visiting key historical sites with engaging guides. Perfect for literature enthusiasts and history buffs alike!
Met my expectations, great guide, wish I had time to see a play too, to experience how they were done back in the day.
Great tour.everyone loved and enjoyed this visit.Lots of things to know n a great interest for kids as well.good for kids holiday time tour
The tour consists of a 1.5 hour walk through the streets of London, Blackfriar area, places Shakespeare would have frequented. Following the visit to the Globe theater. Interesting the second part, boring and devoid of content the first. Although the guide was good at making the walk interesting, the poverty of topics made it difficult for the guide himself. First part of the tour AVOIDABLE. SPECIAL FEATURE: on the site it was possible to buy the participation in the tour for one person and my purchase was regularly confirmed. After several weeks, close to the date, the tour operator informed me that the reservation, ALTHOUGH VALID, had to be cancelled because it was mandatory (!) to book for at least two participants. Not wanting to disappoint my daughter, I agreed to the unexpected schedule change. ULTIMATELY: the price is exaggeratedly high for the quality of the Service offered. I would not recommend this tour at this price.
Very disappointing tour. We booked it because it was a private tour but you end up visiting the globe with a large group anyway. The other stops beforehand were pathetic and our tour guide was a nice man but offered little commentary and really this part of the tour was waaayyyy too long considering there was nothing actually to see. I would not recommend this tour for the cost-instead book a tour with the globe directly.
Exceptional tour! Our guide was knowledgeable, passionate, professional and lovely! Made a great memorable experience. Would highly recommend!!
Declan was a really interesting guide. He was able to bring Shakespear’s life in London alive. He had lots of well informed theories on his character and provided context for many of his plays and sonnets. He also recites beautifully and interacts with participants.
Our guide was pleasant and knew his way around the Shakespeare sites south of the Thames. The personal tour was pricey for what we got. We thought it a little hurried. The walk around included the Globe, where guides in the theater took over. I thought it inappropriate for the guide to ask us to complete a written survey of the tour at The Glove as he sat watching and which he took away with him.
I went on a Shakespeare Walking Tour as well as the Greenwich Half-day tour. Both were terrific. The Shakespeare in London tour was very educational. Muhsin was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and had a lot of fun! The Greenwich Highlights Half Day Tour that I took with Stephen was very educational. Architecture, science and music. Excellent! Strongly recommend both!
