This half-day package includes museum admission and round-trip transfer from your Cape Town accommodation, making your trip hassle-free. Robben Island is one of the most visited museums in South Africa and is best booked well in advance. Take a moment to reflect on your voyage back to the mainland after learning about the island's long history and seeing Nelson Mandela's cell.

Itinerary
Pick up at accommodation in Cape Town. You will receive a shared transfer from your hotel in Cape Town to the Silo District where you will be escorted to the Nelson Mandela Gateway.
We will make our way to the Silo District where you will be escorted to the Nelson Mandela Gateway. Here you will charter a shared to Robben Island museum where you will be met by a former political prisoner who will conduct the tour of the Island. (Please note that our tour guide/driver will not be joining you on the tour of the Robben Island museum.) The entire tour lasts +-4 hours which includes hotel pick up. For part of the tour, you will be transported around the island by bus, before you visit the prison cell of Nelson Mandela and take the long walk to freedom. Upon our arrival back at the Jetty, your tour guide or driver will meet you at the entrance of the Nelson Mandela Gateway. . Visit the man-made facilities . Pickup Locations & Times
If international travelers cannot find their hotel, guest house, B&B, or place of residence listed, you may manually enter your accommodation details in the pickup address tab. Please note that this pickup option is only reserved for international travelers. If you book under the South African citizens rate, the transfer is not included or applied. Our pickup radius is within 10 km (6 miles) of the Cape Town CBD. All hotels and places of residence located in the City Centre, Sea Point, and Camps Bay qualify for return transport. Additional charges may apply if your accommodation falls outside this radius. Kindly wait in the hotel lobby for our tour guide to collect you at the scheduled pickup time. Please note that our tour guide/driver will not board the Robben Island ferry; they will transfer you to the Nelson Mandela Gateway. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking seasickness medication before boarding. Please also pack a jacket, wear comfortable walking shoes, and carry food if needed. Please have a copy of your passport or ID available on your phone. Kindly note that this information applies to return transfers to and from the hotel only.

Very informative tour and very important to understand the history and impact on South Africa. You must get to the ferry early as it gets crowded. Unless you sign up for the walking tour you will be on a bus and stop at certain places around the prison. Our bus guide was informative and our guide in the building was a former inmate who spoke about his experience.

Fantastic! In the last part of the island, whoever stays with the group is explained about the prison and a former prisoner of the island, imprisoned for racial issues at the time of apartheid... exciting and unforgettable!
