Excellent tour. Organisation was very fast and uncomplicated, we got a Guide that we knew and asked for who is very competent and friendly, Oscar, highly recommended for German-speaking people and for families in general. Captain was also very competent and spotted several animals. We saw tons of monkeys, snakes, crocodiles, many birds and had a great time.
We had a great time together with our guide Moses. He is very knowledgeable about the area and really takes time to explain things about the wildlife. We were in luck because we were there at the end of the high season so we got a private tour for our family of four. We also got a chance to help re-plant some mangrove forest. That is also why this is not a 5 star review, because we were expecting to go into the mangrove forest. We found out there is almost no mangrove to visit and the whole tour was on the Sierpe river. The tour itself was really great, but to us its a river tour and not a mangrove tour. Nevertheless its really worth it to book the tour.
3 hours on the Sierpe river went by in a flash, too much wildlife to list , whatever you are hoping to see, you will not be disappointed. Moses is not only a great guide but a thoroughly nice person who made the whole experience special. We even planted our own mangrove seedlings from the boat into the mud. This is a must for anyone who loves their environment.
We did a mangrove tour with Jonathan and it exceeded all our expectations. Jonathan is an excellent guide: He convinces not only with great expertise and excellent English, but above all with his palpable enthusiasm for nature and wildlife, which immediately jumped to us. What was particularly impressive was the joy with which he showed us everything – although he has certainly seen the animals countless times. During the tour we could observe an incredible number of animals: all three monkey species native to the mangroves, crocodiles, caimans, a Jesus lizard, numerous bird species, a boa constrictor and as a special highlight even a very rare potoo (day sleeper). For us, an unforgettable moment was also a group of macaws that could be observed in peace just a few meters away from us. Overall, the tour with Jonathan was the best activity during our time in Costa Rica. Highly recommended!
Jeffrey (our guide) and Chicho (our captain) were amazing on a beautiful day! We saw: Howler, White Faced, and Squirrel Monkeys. Crocodile and Cayman. Macaws. Iguanas. Boa snake. Many species of birds! The private tour boat ride was relaxing and fun and they were amazing in terms of being able to locate some of the animals! We’ve done a few of these around Costa Rica the past three years and this was the best! Give them a try, you won’t regret it! Thanks team!
We had booked the tour as a couple and were actually only two on the boat! Angelo, our tour guide, first took a lot of time to tell us about the river's ecosystem. We drove into a quiet side arm and could see monkeys up close - an incredible experience. Angelo was able to tell us a lot about the individual animal species. Here it doesn't feel like mass tourism, but we had a very special private experience. Angelo’s enthusiasm for the river, the plants and the animals together with his knowledge made the about 3h 15min perfect.
We absolutely loved our 3 hour mangrove boat tour! The communication beforehand was easy and effective, we were able to book a private tour with just my wife and I. Our tourguide Moises was very knowlegable and looked for everyrhing we could have wanted. He was really good at spotting everything. 10/10 recommend!
Beautiful boat tour. Our guide Joshua was very friendly and competent. He gave us a lot of interesting info and showed us many animals. It was magical!
Great tour. Although not very far, the guide was able to spot a lot of animals, including birds, monkeys, a snake, and 3 crocodiles/caymans. Friendly reception at the start and the trip included drinks.
Excellent trip. The captain was very knowledgeable about the area and its animals. He was also very patient and perfectly gaged our interest. He automatically moved on when we didn’t have questions anymore or sat back down. The trip was the perfect length (2.5 to 3 hrs) and it felt we saw it all without it getting boring. We saw 2 kinds of monkeys and a Kaaiman really close up, and Tons of birds, incl the scarlet macaws and Toucans. We didn’t see a sloth even though he knew where there was hanging out in a tree. the water in the side arm of the river was too low. Our boat couldn’t go far enough upstream. Bring sun screen and a hat. The Captain has drinks.
