7:00 am Arrival at Sierpe to get on the boat. 7:30 am Start of the tour through the Terraba-Sierpe Mangrove. 8:45 am Arrival at Caño Island, snorkeling. 12:00 am a 1:00 pm Lunch and enjoying the beach outside of the island 3:00 pm Return to Sierpe. 4:00 pm a 4:15 pm Arrival to Sierpe.

Cano Island is truly beautiful - but the experience wasn't perfect. There was a good bit of heavy rain on our tour day - out of the control of the provider and doesn't impact my review. And, we were going to get wet anyway, and the staff helped keep our stuff dry. However, there were two big issues in their control: 1) During the trip out, we waited for a half hour in the ocean surf for two customers who missed the boat. I got pretty sea sick from the side-to-side motion during that time and couldn't kick it (I would've been fine with the ride out otherwise). It really ruined the experience for me. 2) The balance seemed off. We spent way too much time on each of the snorkeling spots given what you could see. Toward the end of the second spot, everyone was waiting for the boat with heads above water for 20-30 minutes. On the other hand, we only had 30 minutes to explore the beautiful beach on the island - an hour would've given time to check out both the beach and observation point, rather than being forced to choose. I'd recommend the tour only with the caveats that a friend consider if it's right for them.

We decided to travel from Cartago in the early morning to start the tour at 8am. Our guide was Josué and he knew a lot about the area and marine biology, it was an excellent day. The walk was very beautiful but the most incredible thing was having swum among schools of so many different species of fish. We saw 4 turtles and two of them swam practically alongside us. The snorkeling experience was incredible. Totally recommended
