Private Zaanse Schans Windmills and Volendam Tour from Amsterdam

Enjoy a half day Sightseeing tour to the windmills, the countryside, a local cheese and clogs factory and Volendam. You will visit a unique Dutch park called the Zaanse Schans not far from Amsterdam. Here are the most special windmills of The Netherlands such as the paint windmill, the sawmill, spices mill and peanut oil mill. Thereafter you will see a demonstration how Dutch clogs are made and there is a possibility to buy clogs/wooden shoes and souvenirs. The second stop will be at the Henri Willig farm where they will teach you how they treat their cows and there is a possibility to see how they milk the cows with a milking robot. Thereafter it is time to taste more than 30 flavors of very nice Dutch cheese for free! At last you will visit Volendam where you can lunch in one of the best fish restaurants in town, buy some nice Dutch waffles or enjoy the nice Harbor of Volendam. Duration of the tour will be 5 hours and the pick up and drop off is in Amsterdam.

Discover the great Dutch Windmills and take some nice pictures of it. There are 7 windmills left at the Zaanse Schans and a few are open to visit. You can visit the paint windmill (that is where Rembrandt the great Dutch artist purchased his paint), a saw mill, a spice mill and many more. Admission to the windmill park and parking costs are included in this tour.
Learn more about the Dutch wooden shoe making and see a demonstration how they make the Dutch clogs now. There is a possibility to buy the wooden shoes, the clogs and other souvenirs in the wooden shoe factory as well.
See the special paint mill from inside. This is the last working windmill on earth who can produce paint. Rembrandt the great Dutch artist purchased his paint at this windmill.
See a real Dutch farm with cows and baby cows. You will get an explanation how the Henri Willig farm makes their cheese from the milk of the Jersey cows. They have an automatic milking robot and see how they milk their cows automatically. After the cows it is time to taste their special Gouda cheese. You can eat as much cheese as you want for free! There are more than 30 different types of cheese so enjoy! There is a possibility to buy the cheese and if you don't have enough room in your suitcase you can let them ship the cheese to your country.
Explore the nice and most famous Dutch fishing village Volendam. You can have a nice lunch in one of the best fish restaurants in town, buy very nice fresh Dutch waffles or Dutch mini pancakes. Stroll over the famous dijk and see the nice harbor of Volendam. There is also a possibility to buy some souvenirs as well.

Our driver Mesut was wonderful. He kindly explained a lot of the Dutch history to us. He was also very friendly to our kids.

Martijn was excellent. He showed us everything that was in the tour and explained it thoroughly. We had the chance to meet and greet, not only the cheese makers, but also the cows. He took us to the top of a Windmill and explained how they worked as well as their purpose. We would book this tour again with Martijn.
An excellent way to do this tour. Gillio our guide and driver was very good. The tour itself was brilliant. We saw everything and instead of going to the very busy Henri Willig cheese tasting at Zaanse Schans we went to his dairy and saw the cattle and cheese production and robotic milking machines . Ended with time in Volendam with time for lunch and browsing .
Gillis was nice and drove well, but gave little information compared to our usual guides in past viator tours.

Our guide was waiting for us in our lobby. His car was immaculate. He shared interesting information with us about Amsterdam as we left the city. He planned our day so we could "beat" the crowds—yet we never felt rushed. He was always available to explain anything to us - and take our photo- but also left us ample time to wander the two of us.

We had a great day and our driver Hamza was the perfect guide. The company even accompanied a change of our plans to extend our time and have Hamza returned us to our port in Ijmuiden instead of Amsterdam for a reasonable fee. We loved seeing the windmills and the cheese farm. This was a highlight of our trip.

We enjoyed seeing the 3 places and having a private driver. Mesut was very nice and concerned that we were having a good time. The language barrier was a little challenging. We had hoped to hear more about the areas we were going while in route but as we didn’t speak Dutch and he spoke limited English, that was not the case.
