Itinerary
We will pick you up from Amsterdam and we drive to Kinderdijk located in the province of South Holland. The drive will be about 75 minutes. Kinderdijk is a group of windmills and pumping stations that was created to keep the area dry. The area where Kinderdijk is located is below sea level and to avoid flooding, this system was created. Today, Kinderdijk is a UNESCO site, more famous for its stunning views. Enjoy visiting the windmills or take a boat ride to get the best view. Entrance fees is included with this tour.
You have the option to visit Rotterdam, Gouda, Delft, Hague, or Leiden. Welcome to Rotterdam. The second biggest city in the country. Rotterdam is modern with swanky high-rise buildings and modern bridges. Visit the Markthal, home to over 100+ food stalls and restaurants, Cubic House, Hotel New York or the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. Gouda: Synonymous with Dutch cheese, Gouda is a 750-year-old historic city and is home to the stunning Sint - Janskerk, City Hall, Goudse waag, etc. Leiden: Home of Rembrandt, Over 35 courtyards, canals, and countless monumental buildings. Before reaching America, the Pilgrim Fathers lived in Leiden in the 17th century. Hague: Political capital of Netherlands and 3rd largest city. Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Kinderdijk was amazing and Leiden is a hidden treasure. Highly recommend!
We had amazing time with Gopi - He’s a wealth of knowledge and a genuinely nice person. Highly recommended!
This excursion was everything we’d hoped for plus more! Our driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He was ready to provide information and answer questions and also step back to allow time for just the two of us (when we wanted). He listened to our interests/hopes/expectations, made a recommendation for our second stop, and it was perfect. We highly recommend this personalized day trip.
Our private day trip to Kinderdijk with Gopinath was an incredible experience. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the history of the windmills come alive with his storytelling. Everything was well-organized and relaxed—highly recommend for a memorable and personalized Dutch countryside tour!
The exclusive tour is perfect for those wishing more free time and space to get around and learn much from the guide. It's an authentic experience of how windmills worked and served to house the families of the millers, and the site is UNESCO heritage for a reason.
The trip was hard because the car was just too small for an 8 hour day for 4 average sized adults. It was a very warm day. The air conditioning did not reach those sitting behind the passenger and drivers seat because the person sitting on the hump in the middle seat had to block the vents. The guide was good and the sights a must see. On this trip we split our sightseeing between Tours by Locals and Viator. Because of this incident and the fact that our dissatisfaction didn’t produce a favorable outcome we will not be booking with Viator again.
Thank you for your feedback. We noted your point about the type of vehicle offered for the 4 of you was not comfortable. We will take your feedback onboard. I provided complimentary wifi on board, 1 extra hour of tour, and a complimentary visit to the authentic cheese farm. I hope it made up for the vehicle size to some extent. Good day.
The guide was very professional and knowledgeable. The guide arrived at the pickup point 15mins before the meet up time and we were able to start early. We picked Gouda as our city of choice for visit and had a heritage tour around the old town. On the way to Gouda, we also dropped by a local cheese factory where we tasted some of the local produce. This is a highly recommended tour if you want to see the local and the heritage.
Gopi was a great guide and made the travel easy (on Kings Day no less) and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
We travelled to Leiden, the Kinderdijk Windmills, toured a small high-quality cheese factory, and explored the Muiderslot Castle. Our guide drove us in his sedan. He was a very good driver, was knowledgeable regarding the destinations of the tour and the Netherlands generally, and otherwise strove to make the tour informative and enjoyable. For example, we were unable to see the interior of any windmill at Kinderdijk, due to inadequate staffing by the volunteer workers there, that day. After we saw what we could from the outdoors, our guide volunteered to add Muiderslot Castle to the itinerary, at no extra charge. The tour of Muiderslot was entertaining, and rounded out the day nicely.
We enjoyed traveling through the Netherlands’ countryside. The UNESCO World Heritage Site was amazing. Our driver was very knowledgeable and took us to a working cheese farm before acting as tour guide for our stop in Gouda.
