Itinerary
The Castle of the Moors allows you to admire, along the round trails, through cliffs and over cliffs, a unique landscape that extends to the Atlantic Ocean. Overlapping to the Serra de Sintra, and of irregular configuration, consists of a fortification built around the 10th century after the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, being expanded after the Christian reconquest.
The Park and the Palacio da Pena, implanted in the Sintra mountain and the fruit of the creative genius of D. Fernando II, are the highest exponent of 19th-century Romanticism in Portugal, with architectural references of Manueline and Moriscan influence. The Palace was built to be observed from any point of the Park, forest and lush gardens with more than five hundred tree species from the four corners of the world.
Sintra is a witness to almost all ages of Portuguese history. And going far beyond that, Sintra is a finding of traces from human history itself. Afonso Henriques grants Charter of Foral to the Village of Sintra) to the Discoveries, Sintra which survived the earthquake of 1755, has its golden period situated between the end of the century. XVIII and all the century. XIX.

We saw beautiful sites, and got excellent guidance and tips. There’s a lot of walking but the views and the palace are worth the effort! Then we enjoyed a really good lunch and delicious pastries. We loved the lighthouse and ocean breezes at Cabo da Roca. And at the end of the excursion we were dropped off at our hotel, happy to have accomplished so much in that one fine day. We had a a very kind and knowledgeable guide who made the whole experience comfortable and easy!

This tour was our second in Sintra. This trip we aimed higher and did the Mouros Castle and the colorful Pena Palace. Our guide David helped us to understand the history as well as identify all the historical Portuguese people involved. He also recommended a great restaurant for lunch in addition to a long lived pillow dessert that originated there. After all that, we did a real nice beach run. It was fantastic :)

We had a private tour with Pedro who was very knowledgeable and passionate about Portuguese history. He was courteous and went out of his way to make us comfortable. For lunch he detoured to a favorite spot of his where we enjoyed a fresh seafood lunch, wine, and the roaring ocean view. The palaces, Sintra, and Cacais were all interesting and beautiful but the tour guide made a very rainy day much nicer.

We had an amazing time and the experience was one of a kind. Pedro helped us experience a unique opportunity with this tour. Some roads were closed, but Pedro found the way to get us to our destination. It was raining and he offered us raincoats. We took longer than expected experiencing different places and he was still willing to continue with us throughout the day without rushing us. This was truly the best tour we have experienced. Thank you to the whole team, to Pedro. It was our pleasure discovering Sintra & the beauty of Pena Castle. One of UNESCO heritage places, checked out of our bucket list, thanks to Pedro and its amazing team.
