The Sintra National Palace, also known as Palácio da Vila, was one of the palaces used by the Portuguese Royal Family. The monument, of medieval, gothic, manueline, renaissance and romantic architecture, is an "ex-libris" of Sintra.
Known as the sacred jewel that crowns the Sintra Mountains, the National Palace of Pena, one of the greatest examples of Romanticism in Portugal, appears, through the fog characteristic of the region, with its colorful hues, as if it were a fairy tale. The whole scenario leaves a certain mystery and adventure in the air.
Right on top of the mountain is the Castelo dos Mouros, a fortification whose walls wind up the mountain between rocks and cliffs that dates back to the time of the Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. From here you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of the town, the Pena Palace, and the ocean that surrounds Portugal.
In the heart of the mysterious and charming town of Sintra, you will have the opportunity to visit the traditional Portuguese commerce, buy souvenirs and taste the traditional regional pastry, namely Travesseiros and Queijadas de Sintra. Snack not included. It will be offered a Ginjinha in a Chocolate Cup.
The tour starts with a visit to Quinta da Regaleira, one of the most charming and emblematic places in Sintra, full of history and magic. Here you can marvel at the architecture, visit the famous Initiation Well, the interior of the caves and explore the imposing garden that surrounds the entire palace.
On this day in the romantic town of Sintra, you will also have the opportunity to see and visit, if you wish, the Park and Palace of Monserrate. The Palace, of Gothic, Indian and Moorish influence, contrasts with the imposing green of the beautiful botanical gardens that surround it, gardens that are part of the "European Route of Historic Gardens" since 2020.
The next stop is at the westernmost point of Portugal and Europe, one of the most emblematic places in Portugal with a view of the sea as far as the eye can see.
(Optional) This village on the Sintra coast, in the parish of Colares, is worthy of a postcard. The white houses go down the cliff to the beach that, with its ocean pool, delights visitors. Enjoy the calm that this place offers you.
Known as the Riviera Portuguesa, the town of Cascais has a unique charm. Its streets full of traditional commerce and restaurants, its beaches and the 19th century palaces by the sea make this town a mandatory stop.
The tour ends once we arrive back to Lisbon.

We could not have asked for a more perfect day exploring Sintra, Cabo de Roca, and Cascais with Ricardo! He was a delight to get to know and took us around Sintra like a true local. We loved getting to know him and will definitely rebook with him when we return to Portugal!
Our guide Ricardo was amazing!
Excellent guide, very professional, very knowledgeable and very patient and interesting. He made our day memorable.
Excellent service . Knowledgeable driver/tour guide . Just the right length of tour . Walking to pena palace is a nice longish walk if not used to walking but definitely well worth the walk .Palace really busy but amazing ! Lunch absolutely delicious and quaint restaurant . The Sintra shoreline and beaches are amazing . Ricardo was an excellent tour guide - great sense of humour and good knowledge .
It was a fantastic day— our guide was knowledgeable and prompt. We had a great tour of Pena along with a nice relaxing lunch of wine and tapas in Sintra. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely private tour with Ricardo! We learned so much about the local area. Everything was well planned and smooth. Would recommend the tour.
Could not have been more pleased with our tour. Nuno was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable of the rich history and culture of Portugal. We felt very lucky to have him guide us.
We booked a private Sintra tour through Sintra Lovers on Viator on March 28, 2026 for a June 8, 2026 tour and prepaid in full. On May 27, less than two weeks before our scheduled tour, we received an email stating that our tour had been canceled, with no explanation provided. Canceling a confirmed, prepaid booking on such short notice is both unprofessional and inconsiderate, especially for travelers who carefully plan their itineraries months in advance. We had heard wonderful things about Sintra Lovers and were looking forward to the experience, which makes the disappointment even greater. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be using this company on our return visit to Portugal.
Ricardo was amazing! Super knowledgeable, incredibly polite, and friendly! 100/10 - would recommend to anyone!
Amazing tour with an equally amazing tour guide!! We loved Nuno! He was extremely knowledgeable, considerate, personable, and the perfect tour guide. He made us feel very comfortable and taught us a lot about the history of the area. We didn't have enough time to tour the well, but the Pena palace was outstanding, and the lakes trail was beautiful. We highly recommend Nuno and this tour!
