Itinerary
The pink street is the center of Lisbon's nightlife in the Cais do Sodré neighborhood. A busy party hub, this pedestrian street is full of clubs, bars and terraces that often host live concerts and themed events at night. Visit during the day to take a photo on this vibrant pink street and under the rainbow umbrellas. We stopped to take a photo.
Construction began in 1600, the Ribeira market is now completely revitalized, with more than 30 spaces, including restaurants, bars, cafes and pastry shops, as well as souvenirs, preserved products and wine shops. We passed in front of the market.
With more than 50 stores, LX Factory is a space where you will find lots of life, urban art and also has a rooftop overlooking the bridge. We stopped to see some of the urban art in the space.
Opened in 1966, this beautiful 2,200m bridge connects Lisbon to Almada, via car and rail. Originally called Ponte de Salazar, its current name now alludes to the carnation revolution. We passed under the bridge where we took a photo with the bridge in the background.
The National Coach Museum preserves and exhibits in the refined environment of the former Royal Picadeiro an exceptional collection of royal vehicles from the 17th century to the end of the 19th century. We stop to visit the museum where we will admire the beautiful carriages that guided great figures in the past.
The production of Pastéis de Belém began in 1837, according to an old recipe from the Jerónimos Monastery that is reborn daily in its factory using the same artisanal processes. Pastéis de Belém today provide the taste of ancient Portuguese sweets. We stopped to learn how the pastries are made, which we then tasted as we left the factory.
The Jerónimos Monastery is a Portuguese monastery, built at the end of the 15th century by King D. Manuel I and was handed over to the Order of Saint Jerónimo. In the church are the tombs of Pedro Alvares Cabral and Vasco da Gama. We stopped in front of it.
The Torre de Belém is a fortification on the right bank of the Tagus River, it was originally surrounded by water throughout its perimeter, over the centuries it was surrounded by the beach, until today it was incorporated into dry land. The monument is an architectural icon of the reign of D. Manuel I, in a synthesis between the keep tower of medieval tradition and the modern bastion, where artillery pieces were placed. We stopped to see this beautiful monument up close.
The Monument to the Discoveries was erected in 1940 on the occasion of the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries. The current replica, in concrete and stone, is later, having been inaugurated in 1960. We also stopped to see the map where Portugal passed for the first time in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Opened in October 2016 within the context of the cultural patronage policy long assumed by the EDP Foundation, the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology is an international institution dedicated to promoting critical discourse and creative practice with a view to raising new understandings about the historical present and the responsible commitment to the future. We stopped to see the architecture of the building.

Jose made us a super fun visit! We went by the river to Bethlehem, made several stops for photos and returned to the center. I recommend!!
Zé took me through neighborhoods, amazing viewpoints and streets that I would never find alone. What I liked most was the knowledge of local history and culture, explained in a light and interesting way, always. It is clear that he loves what he does and knows Lisbon as few. The tour was very well organized from beginning to end. I recommend it both for those who are visiting Lisbon for the first time and for those who already know the city and want to see it with different eyes. Without a doubt, one of the best experiences.
