Visit Place R’cif in Fez Medina, one of the most vibrant squares connecting the old city with modern Fez. This lively hub is a main gateway into the historic Fes Medina, where locals gather for shopping, dining, and socializing. Surrounded by traditional cafés, fresh produce stalls, and street food vendors, Place R’cif offers travelers a true taste of Moroccan daily life. Whether you’re starting your walking tour or looking for authentic experiences, this square is the perfect introduction to Fez.
Place Seffarine is where one of Fez's oldest and most traditional crafts is practised: metal working (in this case, copper) using heat and a hammer to turn it into teapots, cooking pots, tea caddies, trays or containers used in the preparation of tagines or cous-cous, among other things.
Step into Souk Sebbaghine (the Dyers’ Market in Fez Medina), where traditional artisans use centuries-old techniques to dye fabrics in vibrant shades. Located in the heart of Fes Medina, this colorful souk is a must-see for visitors who want to experience Morocco’s authentic crafts. Watch skilled dyers at work, capture the vivid displays of hanging textiles, and immerse yourself in one of the most unique markets of Fez.
The al-Qarawiyyin mosque, a religious school / college was founded by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 with an associated school, or madrasa, which subsequently became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world. It was incorporated into Morocco’s modern state university system in 1963. It is the oldest existing, continually operating and the first degree awarding educational institution in the world according to UNESCO and Guinness World Records and is sometimes referred to as the oldest university. Goods were stored and sold on the first floor while the travellers were housed and fed on the upper floors. patron saint of the city of Fez and the most revered saint in the entire country, is one of the most emblematic holy places in Morocco. Located on the Place de la Marche Verte, very close to Place Seffarine, it is a religious symbol of Islam. It is a sanctuary in which the remains of Moulay Idriss II are kept, who was one of the kings of the Idrissid dynasty and who reigned between 807 and 828. He was also the founder of the city of Fez for the second time in 810. The reason for the presence of this mausoleum dates back to 1308 when, five centuries after the death of the monarch, his body was found intact in his tomb. This is why at one point in history, more precisely from 1717 to 1824, it was decided to erect a mausoleum as a sacred place, known in Arab culture as Zaouïa. The area in which it is located is called the “Sacred Quarter”. The shrine is accessible 24 hours a day to Muslims, but not to people who practice other religions
Chouara Tannery (sometimes spelled Chouwara) is one of the three tanneries in the city of Fez, Morocco. It is the largest tannery in the city and one of the oldest. We had a wonderful experience with Yossef in Fez and highly recommend him to anyone visiting the city. Our tour was arranged through our hotel, and Yossef met us at the hotel and guided us through the old town of Fez. From the very beginning, he was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. He shared fascinating information about the history, culture, and daily life of Fez, and made sure we saw all the important sights while also helping us discover the hidden charm of the medina. Yossef was patient, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer our questions. Thanks to him, exploring Fez was easy, enjoyable, and stress-free. His passion for his city truly shines through, and it made our visit even more memorable. If you are looking for a trustworthy, professional, and genuinely kind guide in Fez, we wholeheartedly recommend Yossef. Thank you for making our visit so special!
Tank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Youssef, the guide, met us at the train station which removed the hassle of getting taxi to Medina. The tour of Medina was a good balance of interesting places and souk. He tailored our tour to end with lunch at a restaurant that we requested. His comand of English is good. Youssef will not overwhelme you with history on his standard tour, though. Ask him to give you more history at the start if you into it. We would recommend Youssef for a tour of Fes.
Tank you so much 🙏

Tank you so much 🙏🙏
YOUSSEF was excellent, taking us through the Fes town to explore leather, silk, and arargan oil. He was attentive making sure we were safe on our journey. Youssef helped us find a safe and delicious restaurant the night before serving as our guide. Nice guy!
We spent the afternoon with him who took us through the alleys making us discover the real fez! Guide and exquisite person!
It was a great morning with Youssef around Fez. He took my partner and I around the medina and we visited the main important sites of the old city. We managed to see a lot of lovely parts and even got to stop for peppermint tea and we got to stop to tea a traditional sandwich as we had already had big meals and wanted something more local and Youssef knew just where to take us. Youssef was very friendly and forthcoming and if the weather had been nice we may have done more during our time there. I would have liked to maybe visit more places that weren't so commercial as there are a lot of places that want you to spend and i'm not great at bartering but aside from that everything else was fantastic.
Excellent guide, was very helpful, proactive and polite, took us to the best places of Medina and brought us a unique and unforgettable experience! A great way to start your visit to Fez. We recommend!
