Nothing better than starting our tour in a sweet and traditional way. The Ananás dos Açores, also known as "King of the Azores", is a fruit of Protected Designation of Origin (DOP), produced exclusively on the Island of São Miguel. It goes through 8 different production methods that last close to two years. Furthermore, Pineapple from the Azores contains anti-cancer properties. In this place you will have the opportunity to visit each different production process and even taste the wonderful pineapple.
At this viewpoint, get ready to hold your breath and make the most of the fresh air from one of the highest viewpoints in the area. With the well-known Abandoned Hotel Monte Palace at the forefront, the Miradouro da Vista do Rei is the perfect place to relax after visiting the island's fantastic green paths. Get lost in the landscape and take photos to remember one of the most beautiful places on the island.
After the Miradouro da Vista do Rei, we went down towards the village of Sete Cidades to get closer to the Lagoa and visit the Church of São Nicolau.
After spending some time in Sete Cidades, we stopped again at one of the most beautiful viewpoints on São Miguel Island. The Ponta do Escalvado Viewpoint, which gives us a privileged view of the Ilhéus dos Mosteiros, is the perfect place to disconnect, listen to the birds and receive the light breeze from the Azores sea.
As the last stop on our tour, we go to the most southwestern part of São Miguel Island. Integrated into the Regional Natural Monument of Pico das Camarinhas and Ponta da Ferraria, this nature protection zone is made up of several structures of volcanic origin of great scenic and scientific value. At low tide, the sea water itself can reach a temperature of 30ºCelsius, which creates a fantastic experience that is difficult to repeat in another part of the world.

Tour operator canceled night before tour. We were sent an email 18 hours before tour that it was canceled.
This is a private tour and well worth the money. It was much easier to see the various sites around the island than with a larger group. Plus we could provide input on what we wanted to see. Joao was a very pleasant guide and we enjoyed our conversation with him about life on the island. Definitely recommend!
Amazing tour with amazing views. Our guide was passionate about making sure we had a great time, and we never felt rushed. All I can say about this experience was “WOW”!

John was knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share his island. We went places the busses couldn't get to.
We had the most amazing day with Jerome! He managed to take us to all of the sites/stops before the got crowded. My mother in law was with us and required mobility aids. They were able accommodate all of us and she had a great time. Everyone was impressed with his knowledge, friendliness, helpfulness, and good humor.

Joao was an awesome guide, answering all of our questions and showing us the highlights of the island! His communication in English was a definite asset to us, as non-Portuguese speakers. It rained off and on but he did his best to keep us comfortable and dry. An excellent experience all around! One suggestion is to equip the driver with a microphone and have speakers extending to the back third row of seats. Seniors with hearing issues had difficulty and we were frequently repeating his information to them.
We loved the craters and amazing lakes. The pineapple farm was interesting, too. Everywhere Juwou took us was fun!
João did his very best to get us some views of the lakes despite the rain, wind, clouds. The pineapple plant is in town but does demonstrate the process with live greenhouses. It also offers pineapple food/drink for purchase. Had an enjoyable time in spite of the weather.
