Despite being buried under ash for over 2000 years, you can picture the Romans socialising in the bathing areas or cooking at the Thermopolia. ‘These small shops served hot food for the lower classes whose houses rarely had kitchens’, says local guide Francesca. Pompeii’s amphitheatre is definitely something to shout about. It was built to accommodate over 20,000 people and is even older than the Colosseum in Rome. Francesca adds ‘Discovering Pompeii is like leafing through the pages of a history book.’

Fantastic two hours with a fantastic guide, Francesca
Our guide Francesco was excellent, He was extremely knowledgeable, easy to understand, personable and funny. He certainly conveyed his enthusiasm and passion for Pompeii, its people and history. We had 2 very informative hours with him and then he very helpfully told us where to go and what to see for our remaining free time at Pompeii. You probably only go to Pompeii once, so it seems a must to get the most out of the experience by getting an expert guided tour. We certainly would've got a lot less out of our day had we just walked round on our own. Thank you very much Francesco for making a very memorable day. Very highly recommended!
