Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace Day Trip from Munich

Description
Drive with an airconditioned, comfortable coach from Munich and visit the famous and fabulous castles built by the fairytale King Ludwig II. These unique buildings in the midst of the Bavarian alpine landscape will definitely fascinate you. The first stop of our tour will take you to Schloss Linderhof, the smallest castle of the Bavarian king. It’s up to you to decide whether you choose to have a guided tour through the castle in english live, have a walk around the beautifully landscaped grounds or simply enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and get excited by the marvellous scenery. We will then continue our tour to Hohenschwangau. Our stay there will offer you ample time to both try out the famous Bavarian cuisine in a restaurant and visit the castle of Neuschwanstein as well. You can decide whether you want to see one or both castles from the inside with a guided tour and accordingly buy the tickets from our tour guide in cash.

Itinerary
We’ll meet at 8:45 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart at 9:00 a.m. and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to the first stopp Linderhof Palace.
At around 11 a.m., you will reach the parking lot at Linderhof Palace. Explore the gardens surrounding the palace on your own and then make your way to the palace entrance. The smallest, fully furnished, palace was built in the 19th century in the French Rococo and Baroque styles. The Palace of Versailles influenced both the architectural style and the gardens. The guided tour takes place live in English at 11:10 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes. The tour bus departs at 12:00 p.m. (not for option "Neuschwanstein, NO Linderhof!)
On the route between Linderhof Palace and the village of Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the artists’ village of Oberammergau. It is known for its facade painting (known as Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving. The Passion Plays, which take place there every 10 years, have also become world-famous. They depict the last week of Jesus’ life, from Palm Sunday to Easter. You’ll take a tour of the town by coach, as this allows you to see much more than a brief stop would. (Not for option "Neuschwanstein small group relaxed & direct"!)
The "Marienbrücke" was built in 1845 and still features original elements on its railing. From there, the view of Neuschwanstein Castle is truly unique. You absolutely must take the opportunity to snap a photo from there!
At the village of Hohenschwangau the guide will pick up (skip-the-line) tickets for the tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. Afterward, you’ll have free time to have lunch at one of the many restaurants, take a walk to Hohenschwangau Castle, or stroll along the Alpsee. And you can make your way to the Marienbridge (as described Nr. 4) You can reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (about a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus/by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. Your guide will provide you with the exact details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle begins shortly after 4:00 PM and lasts approximately 25 minutes with an audio guide. Afterward, please return directly to the tour bus. The return trip to Munich departs at about 5:30 PM.
After a ride of just under two hours in the comfortable coach, you’ll arrive back in downtown Munich and get off at the meeting point.

Pedro was excellent! So organized and made the day smooth! Such a fun day! It was a lot of walking and stairs but worth it!
Great experience. Be early for the bus, you wanna sit at the front for pretty views, but the back of the bus is still fine if you can’t. The hosts are lovely and helpful. The castle itself was incredible. A fairy tale. You can’t take photos inside unfortunately, very strict, but outside is still phenomenal
Thank you for your review! We are happy you had a great day and enjoyed the trip to the castles and the bus as well as the hosts!
Had Elof as a guide and he was fantastic. Great mix of history and local information while still keeping things relaxed. Blended into the background until we had questions or thought we might be going the wrong way, then he’d just appear. Basically if batman was a tour guide but with a nicer personality and a better sense of humor!
Thank you for your review! We are really delighted you had a great trip and liked our guide Elof :)

We had the best day in this experience. Our tour guide Mark is one of the best guides we’ve encountered in our travels. Thank you Mark for the wonderful experience and your attention to all of us in your group. The bus and snacks were right on point. The driver was very skilled. The two castles and the whole life story of King Ludwig II are something not to be missed if you come to Munich.

The whole experience was amazing! Maryanne was our guide and she was very punctual and helpful throughout the tour. She was also very impressive with her presentation of the history of not only King Ludwig II , but also of Bravaria and Prussia. I would recommend this trip to anyone!!
