Admission not included90 min

At around 11 a.m., you will reach the parking lot at Linderhof Palace. Explore the gardens surrounding the palace on your own and then make your way to the palace entrance. The smallest, fully furnished, palace was built in the 19th century in the French Rococo and Baroque styles. The Palace of Versailles influenced both the architectural style and the gardens. The guided tour takes place live in English at 11:10 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes. The tour bus departs at 12:00 p.m. (not for option "Neuschwanstein, NO Linderhof!)

Pass by

On the route between Linderhof Palace and the village of Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the artists’ village of Oberammergau. It is known for its facade painting (known as Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving. The Passion Plays, which take place there every 10 years, have also become world-famous. They depict the last week of Jesus’ life, from Palm Sunday to Easter. You’ll take a tour of the town by coach, as this allows you to see much more than a brief stop would. (Not for option "Neuschwanstein small group relaxed & direct"!)

15 min

The "Marienbrücke" was built in 1845 and still features original elements on its railing. From there, the view of Neuschwanstein Castle is truly unique. You absolutely must take the opportunity to snap a photo from there!

Admission not included240 min

At the village of Hohenschwangau the guide will pick up (skip-the-line) tickets for the tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. Afterward, you’ll have free time to have lunch at one of the many restaurants, take a walk to Hohenschwangau Castle, or stroll along the Alpsee. And you can make your way to the Marienbridge (as described Nr. 4) You can reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (about a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus/by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. Your guide will provide you with the exact details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle begins shortly after 4:00 PM and lasts approximately 25 minutes with an audio guide. Afterward, please return directly to the tour bus. The return trip to Munich departs at about 5:30 PM.

Castles Day trip.

We left at 9:05 and returned back at 7:45 PM. Marleen the guide was very good. She was very informative and knowledgeable about Munich and both castles. The only complaint is we had one passenger who liked to be 15 minutes late to every departure. If they say they are going to leave please leave them.

Relaxing way to enjoy the iconic castles

What a fun experience!! We really enjoyed our tour Guide Marlene! She was very knowledgeable not only of the local history but of general information and she was really funny. We were impressed with Marlene’s ability to speak 3 languages that we knew of. We felt that we had enough time at each stop to really explore the castles. An extra that was appreciated were the beers for purchase at the end of the day. The bus driver that we had drove the bus with such expert maneuverability in very tight roads. He handled everything like a champ! Side note that Viator has no control of, the hike to and from Neuschwanstein is very strenuous! There is a shuttle or a carriage but that only takes you so far. Plus, it was 85+ degrees on our day and that for safety of the horses the carriages stopped running. Everyone should be VERY prepared for a strenuous hike uphill and downhill. The castle sits on top of a mountain. There is NO vehicle access the last 1/2 mile and it’s brutal.

Fairy tale castles

My daughter and I enjoyed the trip. Meeting location was easy to find. Christine was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable. The bus ride was comfortable and well air conditioned, which was much appreciated in the August heat. The views of the castles were magical.

Long day but well worth it

A long day but worth it to see two of Ludwig II's castles on one day. Our guide, Christine, was great. The map of Neuschwanstein where she annotated things for us was especially helpful. Wear comfy shoes as its lots of walking and lots of stairs.

Great experience visiting King Ludwig II castles

Christine was our tour guide. She shared interesting information about Munich as well as King Ludwig & his castles. The instructions are clear. Everything was on time. The castles are beautiful with interesting stories behind it. It’s a pity that photography is not allowed inside both castles.
