Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest Day Trip from Munich

Description
The impressive mountain scenery and the beautiful landscape of the Berchtesgadener Land will definitely fascinate you. A special bus and lift take you up to the Eagle's Nest at an altitude of 1,834m where you will be rewarded with spectacular views. Our guide will give a comprehensive summary of the historical events and answer any questions. Afterwards, we will have a short stop in the town of Berchtesgaden. The return journey via the German alpine road shows you the impressive valleys of Bavaria. In the event of bad weather conditions (fog, ice, snow) which make a trip up to the Eagle's Nest impossible, we offer a longer visit in the documentation center and the town of Berchtesgaden.

Itinerary
We’ll meet at 8:15 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart at 8:30 a.m. and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to Eagles Nest/Obersalzberg. Don't forget your passport!!!
Upon arrival at the Obersalzberg parking lot, please proceed with your tour guide to the departure point for the special bus. Once your guide has picked up the skip-the-line tickets for the group, you will take the red special buses up the mountain for about 15 minutes. Upon arrival, walk through the tunnel to the original lift to go directly to the Eagle’s Nest (now a restaurant). On a clear day, you'll have a spectacular view from there. (you are at 1834 m altitude)
After taking the shuttle bus back down to the parking lot, you will have free time until the tour bus departs for the town of Berchtesgaden. During this time, you can have lunch at the "Berggasthof Obersalzberg" (at your own expense) or go directly to the Obersalzberg Documentation Center. The restaurant is located in the terrace hall of the former “General Walker” hotel, making it a historic building on the Obersalzberg.
The Obersalzberg Museum traces the history of Obersalzberg as a center of power during the Nazi era. It is a very interesting exhibition that reopened in 2023 following renovation and expansion. There, you can also tour the bunker complexes from the Nazi era. Admission is included in the price of the special bus tour.
After a short drive, you’ll get off the tour bus in the center of Berchtesgaden. Our experienced tour guide will lead you on a walking tour through the town, pointing out some of the main sights and explaining the history of Berchtesgaden over the course of about 20–30 minutes. After another about 30 minutes of free time in town, all participants will meet back at the bus for the return trip at around 5:15 p.m.

A great tour however it is a long day and to get the full advantage of the museum at Eagles nest, take a packed lunch - it’s too tight to have lunch if you want to do the tours in the museum. We missed the bunker and only had 25 mins to see everything which is not long. Berchtesgaden is a beautiful town
The tour guide was amazing. She spent most of the 2+ hour trip going there telling us all about the locations we passed and the history around the Eagles Nest and Berchtesgaden. She walked us all around the locations and gave us the time to go in our own.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are happy that you felt well taken care of!
The trip was well organized. The tour guide, Elisabeth, was wonderful and had a lot recommendations at each stop. The drive to and from the Eagle's Nest was incredible. Highly recommend.
Thank you, Heather, for your 5 star review and your recommendation, we truly appreciate!
It was an amazing experience being in this day tour with Elisabeth and Bashkim. It was very well planned and gives the perfect amount of time to explore all parts of the journey. Started with covering key buildings in Munich from the bus and ends with an amazing drive back through the German Alpine! Admission fee was totally worth it! The bus was very safe and convenient. I travelled solo and I would recommend this to other solo and group travellers.

Thank you, much appreciated!
Bus ride was very nice. Tour very well organized and the amount of information was impressive. The Eagle’s Nest tour and Documentation Center were very interesting to see. It is a sad part of history but gives us the opportunity to do better in the future. I recommend this tour highly. Also, the natural beauty is outstanding. Thank you Elizabeth and Bashkin!
Thank you for your nuanced perspective. Yes, the contrast between the beautiful landscape and its historical significance serves as a daily reminder for all of us. Thanks for your recommendation!
Elizabeth was an absolute delight. She was beyond knowledgeable about WWII history and she shared her knowledge with great care and enthusiasm. Her directives were clear and pacing was appropriate. The driver was kind and made the travel smooth and safe. This tour is a must for any historian.
