Arakurayama Sengen Shrine is one of Japan’s most famous and picturesque shrines, located on the mountainside in Fujiyoshida. Established in 705 AD, the shrine is dedicated to protecting the local community and is closely connected to the worship of Mount Fuji.
Oishi Park, located on Lake Kawaguchi's northern shore in Yamanashi, Japan, doesn't have a deep historical narrative but is famous for its stunning, ever-changing floral displays (lavender in summer, kochia in autumn) set against the iconic backdrop of Mount Fuji, making it a celebrated natural viewpoint and part of the region's scenic identity, anchored by the Kawaguchiko Natural Life Museum. Its history is tied to showcasing seasonal beauty and providing unobstructed views of Mt. Fuji, attracting visitors for its beautiful landscapes rather than ancient ruins.
Oshino Hakkai's history stems from Mt. Fuji's eruptions, transforming an ancient lake into eight sacred, spring-fed ponds, once used for religious purification before climbing Fuji, earning it designation as a National Natural Monument in 1934 and a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013. Known as the "Eight Seas of Oshino," these ponds are fed by crystal-clear, filtered water from Mt. Fuji, offering stunning views and holding deep cultural significance as a pilgrimage site, despite the decline in ritualistic use.
Mount Fuji's 5th Stations, especially the popular Subaru Line 5th Station, evolved from ancient pilgrim stops on sacred trails (like the Yoshida Trail) into accessible modern tourist hubs with the construction of mountain roads, notably the Subaru Line in 1964, transforming them into gateways for vast numbers of hikers and sightseers, while retaining deep historical roots as sacred points on the ascent.
Lake Kawaguchiko's history is defined by Mt. Fuji's volcanic activity, notably the 864 Jogan Eruption that formed it and the surrounding Fuji Five Lakes by blocking rivers with lava, creating a landscape rich in volcanic rock and unique folklore like the Benzaiten shrine on Unoshima Island. It's the most accessible of the Five Lakes, developing significantly as a major tourist hub with hotels, hot springs, and cultural sites, and was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2013 as part of "Fujisan, a sacred place and source of artistic inspiration".
As you ride the Hakone Ropeway, you're suddenly greeted by the billowing smoke of Owakudani right before your eyes. It's a sight that will surely take your breath away. On clear days, you can also enjoy the breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. The ropeway operates at approximately one-minute intervals and consists of gondolas that can accommodate 18 people.
A shrine with a history of 1,200 years or more. In particular, the Torii (wooden gate) standing on the lake is recently getting popular as a place where you can take unique photos. The vermilion Torii in the clear blue color lake is such a fantastic view!

It was an amazing day-trip to see the natural and peaceful beauty of Mt. Fuji. Mr. Faiq was flexible with picking us up early where we were staying outside of Tokyo in Yokohama, and giving us the option to drop us off in Tokyo at the end of the day. He made sure we got to Mt. Fuji early enough to see her before she hid behind the clouds for the day, and before it got crowded. Faiq was kind, communicative, and helpful. Highly recommend this excursion to anyone who is staying in the Tokyo metro area.
We had a fabulous day with Faiq visiting Mt. Fuji. The trip met our expectations. Faiq suggested a 5:30 am pickup which would hopefully allow for clear views. We had clear views at Oishi Park, Chureito Pagoda, and Lake Kawaguchi. The scenery was beautiful, the atmosphere serene. We enjoyed a speedboat ride on the lake and finished our trip with a stop at Oshino Hakkai to visit the clear spring ponds, enjoy some food and do some shopping. Faiq was professional and provided us with a great experience. I would recommend this excursion.
We had a great day with Haider taking us to 4 stops around Mt Fuji. We started with the one we were most excited to see to be sure we got the best views and it was beautiful! All the stops were great and unique. The boat ride on the lake was especially fun and unexpected. We planned for a 6am start time but switched to 530 to give us the best chance for great views and we are so glad we did! By the end of our outing, the clouds had moved in.
Mr. Faiq Haider was Excellent ! Always punctual, professional, and very kind. He made our family trip around Mt. Fuji was comfortable and enjoyable. His safe driving, local knowledge, and helpful nature were greatly appreciated. Highly recommended!
We had a great time with Mr Faiq Haider . He advised us when to go to see MT. Fuji as it is visible during a specific time of the day. If he hadn’t advised us we could have missed so many things. All thanks to him, He is a great guy 👍🏼
This is the way to go see a custom trip without using the buses or trains. Our Driver Ali was great at getting us to the locations and walking us to the start point. We left early in the morning and beat the crowds. Got to Mount Fuji before the clouds and achieved our goal. He new how to get around to various sites and provided us options. He also was able to work with us to see other attractions before our time ran out.
Faiq took us to all the Mount Fuji favorite spots before the crowd got there. This helped make the trip efficient
