This was amazing and my family of 4 including 2 kids 10 and 12 enjoyed all of it. Well organized and the host was exceptionally helpful. Came out with some wonderful desserts. Would highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your warm review. Your kind words mean a lot to me. I had such a wonderful time with your two adorable children. It made me so happy that they said "Arigato" to me in Japanese !! Hana
Hana was the perfect hostess, we had the workshop in her home which was really beautiful. She had everything prepared for the workshop which was a lot of fun to do
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. You are such an experienced traveler! I was impressed by how well you understood Japanese culture and customs, and you mastered the art of making nerikiri surprisingly quickly. It was a truly meaningful and enjoyable time for me. Thank you very much! Hana
Hana was amazing and made the activity. On top of being a former University level history professor, she was great with my 10 and 12 yr old- so kind and the class itself was a lot of fun and relaxing. It also brought us to a perfect part of town in Shibuya/Harajuku and Hana gave us a ton of insider recommendations on what else to do while in Tokyo. If I had to do it all again, I would've had our activity with her first ;) highly recommend.
Thank you very much for yesterday. It was so lovely to see your adorable children stay focused and enjoy making wagashi until the very end. Traveling with children can be challenging for moms, but I'm sure this trip will become a wonderful memory and valuable experience for them. You're heading home tomorrow! Thank you for visiting Japan, and I hope you had a fantastic time here. Have a safe trip home! Hana
What a fun experience! We had a group of three, so each picked a design that all three copied and the fourth was whatever we wanted to individually create. Our gracious host gave us clear instructions and we each had all the tools we would need at our individual stations at the large table we shared. It is kind of like playing with edible play-doh. Then we had a beautiful matcha experience with time to enjoy sweets from different regions of Japan. It’s always memorable to do hands on arventures. I highly endorse this wagashi class, as I really liked the mixture of designs. Some classic and some contemporary. Thanks again to our delightful instructor!
Thank you so much for your heartwarming review. It truly encourages me, and reading your review made me very happy. Thank you again. I also had a wonderful time spending those 90 minutes with you. The wagashi your husband made was very unique and interesting! Thank you so much Hana
We booked this experience for our two daughters (12yo and 14yo). They had nothing but compliments and they said it was one of their favorites experiences in Tokyo. Their instructor was very friendly and kind and gave great and easy instructions on making the sweets. We highly recommend this class.
Thank you so much. I had such a lovely time talking a lot with your very sweet daughters—it was truly enjoyable. They are both very skillful and picked up how to make nerikiri so quickly. I imagine you have already arrived back in the U.S. by now. It must be about time to enjoy American food again! I was also very impressed that they can speak Japanese and have such a good understanding of Japanese culture. Thank you very much for bringing your wonderful daughters to my place! Hana
We had a wonderful time making mochi and drinking matcha with Hana. She made it easy and fun, not to mention tasty!
Thank you so much for your kind comment. It is my very first review of 2026, and it truly made me very happy. Thank you for visiting Japan and for coming to my class. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. Hana
Interesting and fun experience, learning how to create nerikiri wagashi. Informative host and beautiful creations. The matcha tea at the end was the perfect finishing touch. Thank you
Thank you so much for writing the review. I’m really happy to hear it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. I wish you all the best with your workshop. Hana
This is a wonderful way to gain an insight into a delightful aspect of Japanese culture. The focus on fine details, food in all its aspects - appearance as well as taste, and the beauty of simple things has had great appeal to us. Hana was an excellent teacher and so very kind and accommodating. We all enjoyed making our nerekiri.
Thank you so much for stopping by during your wonderful trip to take your granddaughter wherever she wants to go once she turns ten. Vivi is such an adorable, independent, and truly admirable granddaughter! Experiencing different countries and cultures, and spending time with grandparents, are incredibly precious moments. She told me about the kindness she received during her first trip to Japan. I felt that people were kind to you because you both are so warm-hearted and respectful toward Japanese culture. I’m sure you had a lovely time at the Ghibli Museum yesterday. Please enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan. Hana
Definitely recommend for anyone that wants to take more than just a souvenir home. The host was great and very informative. My whole family really enjoyed making the dessert, performing a tea ceremony, and eating the dessert.
I was so happy to spend a wonderful time with such well-mannered and sweet children. Thank you very much for coming. Everything we made together was great, but the original designs they created at the end were especially impressive — they really have amazing talent and creativity. Your daughter is very mature and dependable, and your son is absolutely adorable. It was truly a heartwarming time for me. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan! Hana
Very unique beautiful Japanese traditional macha etiquette & nerikiri making experience was unforgettable, especially with Hana sensei. Hana sensei was so patient & her kind guidance gave me courage to challenge for my clumsy skill to make nerikiri. 😱😂 Hana sensei also recommended useful places information after her lesson which was ABOVE & BEYOND…💖 A beautiful couple from France was my learning mate & it also made our experience more fun. 😍 What a great memory & pleasant experience. I highly recommend this fabulous experience with Hana sensei. 👍💖
Thank you very much as well. I really appreciate the wonderful gift you gave me. That cake shop is very popular for its beautiful decorations. I used the face mask!!It was so nice. Thanks to Angie’s friendly personality and thoughtfulness, we were all able to have such a wonderful time together. If you have any questions or need any help during your stay in Japan, please feel free to contact me anytime. Good luck with your Japanese lessons, and enjoy your two weeks of classes! Hana
