Lisbon Port Wine Tasting at Taylors Shop and Tasting Room

Description
It takes place at Taylor’s, one of the oldest Port wine houses in the world, established in 1692, offering guests the chance to discover authentic Port wines in a carefully designed setting that reflects centuries of tradition. Unlike a standard tasting, this experience is structured as a guided journey through three distinct Port styles, allowing guests to understand the differences in profile, ageing and winemaking style — from a fresh White Port to a rich LBV and a complex 10-Year-Old Tawny. It is also elevated by a carefully selected food pairing, either a traditional Pastel de Nata or artisanal Vinte Vinte chocolate, which enhances the tasting and adds a distinctly Portuguese touch. Overall, it’s a refined, accessible introduction to Port wine culture, combining storytelling, education, and sensory discovery in one experience.

Great explanations of the port process, the port was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
A good first insight into port. Taylor's is one of the top producers and much of their product is available for purchase. If you were heading to Porto then this will whet your appetite.
Enjoyed three port tastings paired with chocolate. Great explanation of the process of making port. Very informative and answered our questions.
The place is beautiful, the port is very good, and the staff is very kind, competent, and professional. Recommended!
Taylor's Port Lodge was first class all the way. The self-guided audio guide was excellent and led us from room to room and through the wine cellars with absolute clarity. After completing the tour, our ticket included a tasting of three different Taylor ports. The tasting garden was beautiful and the wines all excellent. This tour is well worth the cost.
Thank you very much for your kind review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Taylor’s and that the self-guided audio tour provided you with a clear and engaging experience throughout the cellars. It is also wonderful to know that you appreciated the tasting of the three Taylor’s Ports and enjoyed the beauty of our garden setting. We are very pleased that you found the experience worthwhile. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again in the future for another memorable visit. Ana Miguel, Taylor's Sales Team
We participated in a Porto tasting during our stay in Lisbon, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. I had booked for 6 people, for a total amount of €570, which is a large sum. For this price, we had 3 glasses of port each, 18 glasses in total, but no accompaniment was planned. I had to order something to snack on extra, for 49 € more. Upon arrival, I handed in the booking vouchers indicating that we had booked. The documents were taken, and then we waited several minutes without really knowing what would happen. A gentleman then came to sit us at a table, then again a long wait, without any particular explanation. After a while, a person arrived with a tray full of glasses already served, which they simply placed in front of us. We did have some explanations, but only in English/Portuguese. Being the only one of the group who understands and speaks Portuguese, I had to try to translate as well as possible to my friends, which made the experience less fluid and less pleasant. It is unfortunate that no explanation in French is offered, especially for an activity for visitors. In the end, we were disappointed. The price seems far too high compared to the service offered, especially since the Ports tasted were not particularly old or exceptional. The experience lacked hospitality, warmth, accompaniment and content. It’s a shame, because we loved our weekend in Lisbon, which was beautiful at every level. This tasting unfortunately remains the only negative point of our stay, and I will not do it again.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback with us. Your comments regarding the level of hospitality, communication, and the overall structure of the tasting are very important to us and will be shared with our team for careful review and improvement. We are continuously working to enhance both the clarity and comfort of our guest experience. We are, however, glad to hear that you enjoyed your overall stay in Lisbon, even though this experience did not reflect the quality we aim to provide. We truly appreciate your honest feedback and hope we may have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future for a more positive experience. Ana Miguel, Taylor's Sales Team
This is a really good first day activity in Lisbon. It’s a good way to get familiar with port wine. The tasting is slightly impersonal, however for the price it’s a good deal.
Thank you for your review, Katelyn! We are glad to know that you enjoyed the tasting as a great introduction to Port wine and a first-day activity in Lisbon. We appreciate your feedback regarding the tasting experience and will take it into consideration. We hope to welcome you back for another visit in the future. - Ana Miguel, Sales Team
