LGBTQ Small Group History Tour of the French Quarter

Description
The history of the French Quarter is more LGBTQ than people know! It's also a very emotional one with many ups and downs. Because of this we limit the tour to just 9 guests so that you can comfortably get to know your guide and ask questions! The LGBT Queer History walking tour delves deep into the complicated past of gay New Orleans. You learn about the struggles faced by gay community members over the decades, such as brutal beatings, disowned sons and daughters, and the Upstairs Lounge fire that tragically killed over 30 people. But with each struggle, you hear about hope. From gay Mardi Gras krewes to supportive clergy members to the creation of gay rights political groups, New Orleans now lets “you be you,” in all your glory!

Great and informative tour and the guide was awesome! If you love history and Nola, book this tour!!
Thank you so much, it's a tour we're especially proud of, so it's always a delight to hear such a positive response to it!
Tylyn was so knowledgeable about LGBTQ history in New Orleans. We had a great time on this tour. It was easily one of our favorites—highly recommended!
Thanks for the review! This is Ty's creation and they are so proud of it. Thanks for taking the time to learn about a side of NOLA history that few people know! We hope the rest of your stay was amazing!
Our LGBTQ Walking Tour was hosted by Ty and, again, we were treated to an amazing telling of New Orleans' history with the gay community. Locations of significance were visited to ascribe an extra degree of permanence, whether the setting was tragic, comedic, prideful, or just plain curious. While I do not recall an age-limit warning during the booking of the tour, some locations are 21+, so plan accordingly. Bonus thanks to Ty for timing our walk just as an adorable pet corgi was crossing our paths. Your own experience may vary. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and found it extremely enlightening.
Thanks so much for the review! Ty's LGBTQ tour is simply amazing. It's one of our most eye-opening tours. Ty is quite proud of it as they wrote it a few years ago. Thanks again for supporting our small business!
Our guide Ty led us on an exceptionally well researched and fascinating tour of the French Quarter with key events and figures from New Orleans' LGBTQ history, past and present. Ty's knowledge and enthusiasm is contagious. Highly recommend this tour!
Thanks so much for leaving a review. Ty's LGBTQ tour really is eye-opening full of laughs and some tears. Being one of a very few licensed guides focused on LGBTQ history, Ty takes the tour very seriously and so puts out an amazing performance. Thanks again for leaving the review as it means the world to us.
We had a fantastic experience on our LGBT Queer History Tour with Tylyn. Ty is bursting with knowledge and passion about this topic and after two hours packed with stories and information we felt we could have stayed longer so we could keep talking and learning. The tour covers important and defining moments for the New Orleans gay community, the story behind some historic establishments, and the history of the involvement of the community in annual/ traditional New Orleans celebrations that the whole city celebrates. I had loads of questions but Ty answered almost all of them before I could ask. We went to the bookstore on Frenchmen Street after and picked up a book to read more- that's the influence of a great educator. Thank you!
Wow. We can't thank you enough for such a thoughtful review of Ty's LGBTQ history tour. Yes Ty is an amazing educator and their LGBTQ tour really shines a light on what was historically kept in the dark. This tour really digs in to the LGBTQ history and touches people deeply as it seemed to do for you. Thank you again for the review and supporting our small NOLA business.
Ty was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide: made us feel welcomed and informed. Small intimate group we were able to have conversations. Ty always had an answer & appreciated our input. Great gay historic memories shared.
Thanks for the review! Yes Ty is an amazing wealth of knowledge in all things NOLA and this tour is her baby. A small group is the only way to do this tour and since we limit public tours to just 9 guests on ALL tours, it's ALWAYS a small group! Thanks again for the review!
Our guide Ty was very knowledgeable and was able to provide a history lesson with the skill of a good storyteller. We really enjoyed their company too.
The story of the LGBTQ experience in NOLA is an important one and we can't think of a better guide for this than Ty. Thanks so much for taking the tour and taking the time to leave a review. Means the world to us. Hope to see you again soon!
