Itinerary
Located adjacent to the greatest concentration of biotech and pharmaceutical firms in the world, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT), is rated the one of the best universities anywhere. See the iconic dome and other amazing buildings on the way to Harvard Square.
America's oldest College from 1637. George Washington used the old dorms to garrison his officers during the Siege of Boston after the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Follow in the footsteps of William Dawes on his ride through Harvard Square to sound the alarm: "the regulars are about"! See Harvard College, America's oldest college (1637). The Common is where George Washington assumed command of the Continental Army under the Great Elm Tree.
Washington's Headquarters on Brattle Street (Tory Row) is where the general planned out over several months the Siege of Boston.
Battle Green is the oldest military burial site in America, where 77 brave Minutemen under command of Captain John Parker were gunned down on the morning of April 19, 1775 that would lead to the American Revolution and birth of a new nation.
Operated by the Town of Lexington, there is a battle diorama and other displays depicting the events of that fateful morning of April 19, 1775 when 77 Minutemen faced off against 700 Redcoats, leading to the American Revolution. New for 2025: Visit the new adjacent Town of Lexington history museum, open in time for America's 250th Birthday, a 2 year extravaganza.
Completely renovated for 2025, the Battle Road Trail is a five-mile trail connecting historic sites from Meriam’s Corner in Concord to the eastern boundary of the park in Lexington. Much of the trail follows the original remnants of the Battle Road, where thousands of Colonial Militia and British Regulars fought a bloody engagement on April 19, 1775. In some areas, the trail leaves the historic road to follow the route of the Minute Men, traversing farming fields, wetlands, and forests. Witness homes and taverns have been renovated, and Battle Road landscaped, in preparation to the 250th Anniversary of America's birthday for the 2025 season.
See the homestead of the author of "Little Women", Louisa May Alcott.
See the home of Ralph Waldo Emerson, the poet who enshrined our collective memory of Paul Revere and the American Revolution.
Home of the secretive shadow government being established to challenge British Rule and temporary field headquarters of the British Red Coats on April 19, 1775.
See the cemetery used by the British to observe the Minutemen!
Step into history, on the bridge where the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" led to the birth of an independent nation.
See the extensive collections from the Colonial Era, the American Revolution, Thoreau's desk, Longfellow, Alcott, Emerson, and the literary society displayed in this remarkable museum (admission is included).

Booked this tour, turned up at collection point and no collection, ticket still showing in app etc, finally checked emails for mare details and mortised that they’d cancelled day before (didn’t see as travelling and arrived very late straight out first thing for this tour) no text WhatsApp message saying cancelled no apology, wasted time and money getting to pick up point…. Joke of a company
Viator processed the notification to your attention the day PRIOR to the tour (timely) that it was cancelled. Travelers should always check emails for messages on tour status upon arrival. You confirm that you "finally checked emails... they'd cancelled day before (didn't see as travelling and arrived very late....)". There was an apology sent in the separate Viator message box and assurance that any deposit made to Viator would be promptly refunded. Viator doesn't use WhatsApp and cancellations are processed through their portal. I won't comment on derogatory language.
I learned so much and it was a great tour. Lunch stop in Concord was nice and he even dropped me off by a T station at the end of the tour so I could easily head to the airport for my flight out that evening. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind review. I'll let "Coach" know. Safe travels.
The Coach was good, he was real good! We toured in a light to medium rain, but he made sure that we saw everything. I had always heard about Lexington and Concord, but now I understand the battles that started the Revolutionary War.
Thank you for your great compliment to Coach. I'll let him know.
Our guide droned on in a monotone voice the entire time. I love history, and I found the listing of fact after fact after fact boring. Coach clearly is an expert in history, but he just didn’t seem to enjoy leading our tour. I was disappointed because this tour got great reviews.
I'm surprised by the characterization of the guide as "lackluster". I can only judge his presentation of the events leading up to the American Revolution on the basis of dozens of 5 Star reviews listed below! Facts in history are important elements to frame the events and give context to what preceded and superceded a historic reference point in time.
LOTS of information! Well organized and explained though. Covered a lot of history in a good amount of time.
Thank you for your compliments on our 250th Birthday Tour; walking in the footsteps of history!
A great experience with a great guide. Being able to see the actual places that made this ‘Great Experiment’ possible was amazing. Since I taught history, this tour made it all come alive.
That you for your compliments for our guide. There is nothing quite like walking in the footsteps of history.
Amazing experience seeing historical sites. Coach did an excellent job sharing the stories and making the experience memorable.
I'm glad you enjoyed Coach's presentation and experience learning about the American Revolution 250. I'll let Coach know. Regards.
Enjoyed this very good tour which shows you the locations in Lexington and Concord where the American revolution starts as well as the real stories of those times.
Coach is very knowledgeable and engaging. The tour covered both Revolutionary War and literary history.
Thank you for your review. I'll pass along your compliment to Coach.
Our guide “Coach,” was so knowledgeable! Really brought the story alive for us. He was thoughtful, professional, and answered every question! Loved it.
