Description

I will explain the essence of my workshop. You can learn how to make wagashi (Japanese sweets) from dough at my private Japanese home. It might be a very rare activity for you to visit a Japanese private home. There are different kinds of wagashi. "Nerikiri,” "Gyuhi," "Manju," an so on. You can learn Japanese sweets depending on the season. That means you can feel the beautiful Japanese season each time. Most of the wagashi are vegan & gluten-free. It is good for your health. Many visitors and my daily class students always have lots of fun making sweets, and they are always looking forward to eating the sweets. You can enjoy double Japanese traditional culture (Wagashi and Matcha) at a private Japanese home. I will introduce myself briefly. I'm Ikuyo, the host of this workshop. I have been learning Japanese tea ceremony for more than 40 years and teaching making Wagashi for 15 years.

Wonderful cultural experience!

Ikuyo sensei is a wonderful teacher! She is very wise and patient of teaching us the art of making traditional Japanese sweets. In addition to making sweets, we learned a great deal of Japanese culture through our conversation with Ikuyo sensei. We can't wait to come back to learn more from her in our next Japan visit!

Wonderful experience

We had a lovely time making Sakura mochi! It was very well run, practical, and excellent for our family of 3. The mochi were great, and communication (in english) was perfect! Highly recommend!

Fun and Delicious Wagashi Making Experience

Making Wagashi was a lot of fun, but meeting Ikuyo and her husband made it very special. Ikuyo was very patient and explained every step thoroughly. The wagashi were delicious even though the ones we made were not quite as picturesque as Ikuyos. If you want a fun and different experience, take this class.

Great experience making wagashi

I had a lovely time making wagashi during this experience when I visited Yokohama back in March. Ikuyo-san kindly guided me through the unique process of making wagashi from dough, and I both had a fun and comfortable time. It was great to learn about the process and aesthetic of the craft, and the wagashi were so tasty as well!

One of the best memories from my trip to Japan

I had the best time with Ikuyo, she is very sweet and sensitive. Learning to make Wagashi with her was one of the best moments of my trip to Japan, it was authentic, pure and a simple moment of joy. I would recommend booking an activity with Ikuyo to anyone, she is a special person.
