Located in the center of Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake's vivid emerald color is derived from tiny glacial debris particles called rock flour. This lake is unique because of its gorgeous green water. It is impossible to describe the verdant surroundings and snow-capped Rockies as a backdrop. In winter, the lake was largely frozen in ice, and the landscape was blanketed in untouched snow.

Water Color is Amazing

Water color at each lake was the stand out. So incredibly beautiful. Our tour guide, Gordon, was very good. Crowds were large and traffic backed up especially at Emerald Lake. The con was the extremely late lunch. Tour started for some guests at 7:00 and lunch stop was at 2:00. Guests were very hungry.

Great Tour

We took the Four Lakes Tour, visiting Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake, and Emerald Lake and it was the highlight of our Rockies vacation. Every stop was spectacular, and the itinerary was thoughtfully planned to maximize our time while avoiding the biggest crowds whenever possible. Our guide, Jesse, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, personable, and funny. He shared fascinating information throughout the day while creating a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that made the long day fly by. To make matters even more impressive, our tour happened on a day with two major accidents that completely shut down the road between Canmore and Banff. Many guides would have been stressed or let the delays ruin the experience, but Jesse handled everything with incredible professionalism and grace. He kept everyone informed, adjusted plans as needed, and never let the mood of the group suffer. On the drive home, we encountered another lengthy road closure and significant delay, yet Jesse continued to keep everyone entertained with stories, local history, and great conversation. What could have been a frustrating end to the day instead became another memorable part of the experience. The following day, we took a tour with Banff Everyday Tours to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise that cost significantly more but included much less. After experiencing Rockies Journey, the difference was striking. Rockies Journey offered a more complete itinerary, a better overall experience, and exceptional value. If you’re visiting Banff and can only choose one tour company, make it Rockies Journey. The Four Lakes Tour was incredible, Jesse was an exceptional guide, and the company delivered an experience that exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We would book with them again without hesitation.

5 star tour and guide!

It was an amazing tour by the best guide, he was very nice, made us feel very safe and was there with us the whole time. We really enjoyed his company and appreciated the knowledge he shared with us. The tour was really amazing as we could see a lot of spots which we were thinking to skip because of accessibility issues. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend the tour and the same guide, cause it was a 5 star experience!

Fantastic

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Banff, and I highly recommend it, especially if you have Kenneth as your guide! I had originally looked at some of the two- and three-lake tours, but I’m so glad we chose this one. Being able to visit four stunning lakes plus the Natural Bridge made for an incredible day and gave us a great overview of the area. The amount of time at each stop was perfect, long enough to enjoy the scenery and take photos, while also helping us decide which lakes we’d like to come back and explore on our own. Kenneth was exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgeable, entertaining, and clearly passionate about the Canadian Rockies. He shared interesting history and local information throughout the day, making the drive just as enjoyable as the stops. He also went out of his way to take photos for everyone, pointed out the best viewpoints with the fewest crowds, and made sure every guest had a wonderful experience. His attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm really made the tour special. There were plenty of opportunities to grab snacks throughout the day, and Kenneth’s lunch recommendations were excellent. If you’re trying to decide between the shorter lake tours and this one, I definitely recommend this itinerary. It was well organized, beautifully paced, and an unforgettable way to experience Banff and the surrounding area. Thank you, Kenneth, for making our day so memorable!

Beautiful Scenery

Jesse, our guide was good. Due to a traffic jam on the highway we did not make it to Emerald Lake but we stopped at two other lakes. One thing I would suggest is you either extend the lunch time at Lake Louise or suggest we bring our own lunch. All places so lined up with so many tour buses arriving at same time as well as other tourists one hour was not enough time.
